The Chase Bradley Walsh gobsmacked as Mark Labbett admits to 'guessing' answer

The Chase returned to our screens on Friday afternoon for the latest instalment of the ITV quiz show, but host Bradley Walsh was shellshocked when The Beast made a surprise confession.

The legendary quizzer admitted he’d “guessed” the answer to a cliffhanger question, sending one contestant packing in a stroke of good luck.

It all kicked off when Mark “The Beast” Labbett was revealed as the Chaser in the hot seat, trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

Gareth, Aaron, Nicky, and Julie all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Beast in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

Bradley Walsh was back on our screens on Friday to present the latest edition of The Chase

Contestant number one Gareth sailed through to the final round and added £7,000 to the prize fund and Aaron was the second player to take on the tough ITV game show.

He only managed to answer one question correctly in his cash builder round, earning just £1,000.

As usual, The Beast offered the contestant the chance to increase or decrease his prize fund in the head-to-head round.

The Beast admitted he guessed the answer to one of the questions during Friday’s show

After turning to his teammates for advice, Aaron decided to stick to his £1,000 and hoped to join Gareth in the final.

However, things didn’t quite go to plan and he got caught by the Chaser on his last question.

Bradley asked: “Choppy and Tippy are words associated with the grading of what drink?”

Champagne, Lager, and Tea were the possible answers and Aaron thought the correct answer was Larger and therefore got it wrong.

The presenter revealed that Tea was in fact the correct answer, and The Beast got it right.

However, the quizzer admitted it was a pure guess.

The Beast admitted: “I didn’t have a clue.”

Bradley said: “You’re joking. That was not a guess.”

“It was a blind guess,” The Beast admitted.

“It was a blind guess until all the answers come up and I thought tea is always the answer.”

“I didn’t know it at all.”

Gareth, Nicky and Julie took on The Beast in the final chase but were caught by The Beast.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
