John Barrowman says those 'making fuss' of sexual harassment claim weren't there

John Barrowman was welcomed onto Lorraine Kelly’s self-titled ITV show as he opened up about the sexual harassment claims which came to light earlier this year.

The former Dancing on Ice host was hit with an abundance of claims of inappropriate behaviour after allegedly exposing himself on the set of other shows.

As he spoke to Lorraine he confessed that his behaviour isn’t something he would do now, but stated that the people who were “making the fuss” of the claims were not actually there.

John explained his side of the story to Lorraine as he said: “We were like a family working together, the fact that it was stories that I’ve already told… I’ve been telling them for years.

“I haven’t hidden anything, they’ve been exaggerated and they’ve tried to turn it into sexual harassment which it absolutely is not.

“The one thing for me [is that] all the people that are making the fuss about it, they weren’t there, they don’t know the context of things that were done.

“I would never do it now but what we’re not allowing people and myself to do – with the continued bashing – is to learn to adapt and to change, that’s the most important thing.”

Lorraine questioned whether John believes he has changed, which saw him respond: “Of course, of course I have. I’ve moved on, I want to move on. I want to move forward.”

She asked him how he is feeling now as he added: “I’m extremely nervous. That’s not me.”

The host said that she knows that John would usually flourish in an interview setting, which saw him add: “Throughout my career it’s been about promoting to people to be yourself, to not be ashamed of who you are.

“What’s happening at the moment is I feel like I need to monitor everything.”

John previously stated that he always wanted to make people laugh, but confessed that how he does that has changed over the years.

At the time of the accusations he said: “They were different times, which is why I wouldn’t do now what I did then. I’ve acknowledged that by the way my behaviour has changed.”

John has never been arrested or charged and no other allegations have been made about him.

It was announced earlier this year that John would no longer be a judge on Dancing on Ice but it was made clear that the decision was not related to the claims as it was announced that he would be presenting All Star Musicals at Christmas.
