Lauren Goodger’s tough motherhood journey as star finally set for happy ending

TOWIE star Lauren Goodger has always hoped to become a mum, and has never been shy about showing her enthusiasm.

She told New! magazine back in 2018 that she even already had her baby names sorted.

“You all know how obsessed I am with babies! I can’t wait for my time…” she said wistfully.

Flash forward three years and the 34-year-old star confirmed to New! magazine that she is pregnant with her first baby with her boyfriend Charles Drury, 23.

But it has been a long and winding journey for the TOWIE favourite, who started her time on the series in a relationship with Mark Wright.

The pair weren’t exactly soul mates, having met at the tender age of 15 in school, as despite getting engaged on the series their very public break-up played out in furious arguments on-screen only five months later.

The pair’s bitter feud continued but amid the row Lauren revealed the couple had decided to terminate a pregnancy when she was 20.

Speaking about the choice back in 2011, the TOWIE star explained: “I’ve been pregnant before with his baby but I chose not to have it. I was only 20. No one knows except my close family.

“I was still living with my mum, our relationship was so volatile and we weren’t ready for a baby. We said, ‘Let’s wait till we’re more settled’. It was the right thing to do,” the star added.

Lauren then went on to suffer a miscarriage while she was taking part in Dancing On Ice in 2013 while she was dating Jake McClean, later confiding she still hadn’t really grieved the loss of her unborn child on Channel 5 series In Therapy.

“I didn’t think about it. And he never spoke to me about it to me. Ever. Never, ever mentioned it,” the brunette explained.

After a tumultuous couple of relationships, Lauren embarked on a romance with Joey Morrisson while he was in the middle of serving a prison sentence for armed robbery.

“Yes, he’s not been an angel but people deserve a second chance and his crimes never involved innocent people,” Lauren told Closer, later saying she was looking forward to having a baby with Joey.

It wasn’t to be, as the couple broke up in 2018, with Lauren declaring a “weight had been lifted off her shoulders” and she was looking forward to living her life with all she’d “missed out on”.

Lauren has finally got the happy ending she deserves and was thrilled when she announced the news she and Charles are expecting their first child.
