Loose Women fans defend black panel as viewers moan about 'lack of diversity'

Loose Women is often proud of a diverse line up, and today was no exception.

The line-up featured four black women, and racists were quick to complain on Twitter when they saw who was hosting the panel.

Charlene White, Judi Love, Kelly Bryan and Brenda Evans appeared on the show.

They made history last October, when they formed the first ever non-white panel on the programme.

Despite this, Twitter was awash with negative comments.

One wrote: “I see we have a very diverse panel today, all black which does not represent my Country. Can you imagine the uproar if there were four white presenters?! There would be mayhem and absolute chaos!”

Another criticised: “What no whitefaces on Loose Women? Box ticking gone in overdrive!”

Fans were quick to jump in to defend the presenters.

“You mean like every other day for the last 20 years? But sure let’s pretend not to be racist,” said one. “Love how people pretend to be for diversity but oddly the same people are always silent when it’s an all white panel (on any show in the UK) – the ‘I’m not racist but’ crowd.”

Another complimented the team: “I absolutely love it when you four are hosting! You are amazing, such a great rapport between you all. Best panel ever. Have a great show!”

Someone else said: “It’s sad that these women can’t do their jobs without racists making comments. What is wrong with people?! It’s 2021.”

Fans kept the praise coming to try and break up the racism on display.

One hoped the panel would appear more often: “And aren’t they doing a great job, they have literally made my lunch break – nonstop laughter. Hopefully these four amazing women are on much more often”

Another was loving the giggles: “Haven’t laughed so much in ages . This is the best Loose Women I’ve seen for a long time.”

“It’s upsetting to me that instead of just tweeting about the show’s topics as you usually would, so many people are instead choosing to voice how they feel about 4 black women presenting the show,” said one person.

“Have we not learnt anything over the past year? This is unacceptable,” they continued.
