Michelle Keegan spills fitness secrets and her changed attitude towards gym

Actress Michelle Keegan has shared her health and fitness secrets and explained how her attitudes towards the gym have changed.

The 33-year-old former Coronation Street star is known for her toned physique but has revealed she doesn’t “punish” herself for missing a workout anymore.

Speaking on Women’s Health’s Going for Goal podcast, the star discussed how her attitude to fitness is different these days.

She said: “I haven’t worked out for two weeks, but I’m not punishing myself over that.

“[Previously] it was always the guilt for me, a lot of the time, and why I would be in the gym for two hours because I was like ‘oh I’ve really been bad this week, so I need to go to the gym, I need to work it off.’

“And I was in the gym for two hours.”

The former Our Girl actress also spoke about eating healthily as she revealed she enjoyed tucking into porridge or avocado on toast for breakfast.

She added that she normally has lunch with a “protein base”, which is usually “chicken or a fish with veg”.

Keegan added that she usually stays away from potatoes around midday as she “crashes” at around 3pm if she eats “loads of carbs”.

Michelle also remarked that she likes to get her exercise done first as it “sets her up for the day”.

She added: “I’ve really got into walking in lockdown. I love going for walks with my dogs, getting a bit of fresh air, and getting coffee on the way round. With the dogs, in the sunshine, that for me is a big treat.”

Talking about her favourite treat meals, Michelle said: “I might have some garlic prawns to start with, with some crusty bread, and then for my main, I like pasta with garlic and chilli olive oil, and a bit of Parmesan cheese on top.

“And then for my dessert, I’d have a caramel cheesecake and a nice glass of Chardonnay.”
