SAS Who Dares Wins show 'in doubt' as bosses 'struggle' to replace Ant Middleton

Channel 4 bosses are reportedly finding it difficult to replace SAS: Who Dares Wins’ previous presenter Ant Middleton and find a location to film the new series.

The Covid traffic light travel system is thought to be the main snag along with general disruptions caused by the global pandemic.

According to a source who spoke to The Sun, replacing former star and ex British Special Forces soldier Ant Middleton is proving more difficult than predicted since he departed the endurance show in March.

A source claimed: “Bosses really wanted this first series without Ant to go with a bang with an amazing new location, like an African desert.

“They’re struggling to replace Ant. They can’t bring in a complete novice.”

The team behind the series reportedly don’t want to film in Scotland again and need to ensure that they get someone in with “star appeal”.

One option weighed up by producers was using someone from the US version but this idea was hampered by Covid restrictions.

“Everyone wants answers but emails are being ignored and it’s frustrating everyone on the show,” the source added.

Ant Middleton was axed by Channel 4 over his “personal conduct” but at the time of his release, he seemed only too happy to leave.

Speaking to The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the 40-year old said: “I’m too hot to handle for the UK.”

“With the UK version, once that final string pinged from my grasp and it was being controlled by health and safety, and it’s being controlled by the production, then yeah we butted heads a bit and we parted ways a bit sourly.”

In a statement in March, Channel 4 said: “Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of SAS: Who Dares Wins.

“Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again.”

Ant has continued in his role for the Australian version of SAS: Who Dares Wins.

Channel 4 told Daily Star: “We are still in the early stages of planning the next series of SAS: Who Dares Wins, so it is too early to confirm the details. Lots of options are being considered but it is shaping up to be another spectacular but brutal series. As with all Channel 4 productions, strict Covid guidelines will be followed.”
