Eurovision star Sam Ryder has hidden 'lucky charm' to help him land UK win

Sam Ryder has been praised already ahead of his stint in the Eurovision Song Contest, with fans adamant this could be the UK’s lucky year.

Although the UK hasn’t managed to win in the Eurovision since 1997, things are looking up this year with an incredibly promising performance from Sam Ryder.

The latest odds put Sam Ryder at second favourite to win with his brand new track Space Man, but he’s trying to ignore the mounting excitement.

With Sam poised to land the second spot, the star is doing a little extra to land himself the top spot, explaining to Daily Star that he’ll bring his lucky charms.

He said: “I was at a pub with my friend the other day and he gave me his lucky marbles. So now I have a lucky charm. I’ll take them with me. It was such a lovely little gesture from my friend. It was really cute.”

However, despite the excitement, Sam is determined to ignore the hype, telling BBC that he “just wants to do everyone proud”.

Former winner Conchita Wurst has also suggested that it looks like the UK “means business” this year with Sam Ryder’s participation.

Sam managed to win over TikTok before being selected for the UK’s latest Eurovision entrant, telling BBC that his track “changed his life” and said people were “really encouraging”.

Sam is gearing up for a complete UK turnaround, with the country coming last place in the competition for the last two years, but he is just focusing on being “grateful for the opportunity”.

The singer was picked for the Eurovision Song Contest to perform in 2022, and after his stint on the show was confirmed Sam has only grown in popularity, hitting a whopping 3.7million followers on Instagram.

Sam’s career kicked off as soon as he launched his TikTok account and started covering the likes of Justin Bieber and Alicia Keys before signing a record label and releasing his EP in 2021.

The Eurovision Song Contest will air on May 10 and 8pm where viewers will find out who has been crowned the winner.
