Antiques Road Trip presenter throws grass at BBC co-host as jaw-dropping profit revealed

An Antiques Road Trip presenter was seen throwing grass at his competitor after he made a whopping £250 profit at auction with some artistic light fittings.

Auctioneers Raj Bisram and Charles Hanson went travelling around Wales to find some bargain buys that could help make a profit at auction.

The episode, which was repeated on BBC1 on March 28, the pair were seen driving around in a 1971 Volkswagen Campervan as they visited local shops and boutiques finding items like a rare Toby jug.

But it was a set of art deco wall lamps which stole the show at the auction in Leominster, Herefordshire.

Raj initially bought the pair for just £50 and it was the auctioneer’s favourite before it went under the hammer.

The bidding continued climbing and when it reached £190, his opponent Charles said: “Oh Raj”, to which he replied: “I can’t help it”.

Charles then threw a bunch of grass over his fellow host and dubbed it “confetti”.

The lamps eventually sold for a huge £300, some six times what Raj paid for them.

At the end of the episode, Charles had a total of £493.56, while Raj followed closely behind with £443.06, after auction fees.

Charles said: “You’ve done really well, I haven’t done as well, well done”.

To which, Raj replied: “Great auction, hopefully, I have caught up a little bit”.

The news comes after BBC presenter Izzie Balmer cheered as she secured a huge profit at auction in tonight’s instalment of Antiques Road Trip.

The 33-year-old auctioneer was nervous about holding on to her lead in the week’s final episode as she was seen driving to Balsall Common, near Coventry in search of her final lots.

When she was searching for an item, she happened upon a Georgian ring – which she described as having a “distinctive colour from foiling the stone.”

It was priced at £79 – which she said was “an absolute steal.”

However, she had a competition to win and managed to still haggle for more money off – purchasing it for just £55.

At auction, bidding on the item started well over the mark at £300 and quickly soared to £700 – giving her a £645 profit.
