British songstress Adele spoke out on how she was able to bond with her teenage son over their joint love of Formula 1 as she admitted she is pulling back from music
Adele has spoken candidly in a rare interview about her teenage son Angelo. She also admitted that she is pulling back from music, saying she “doesn’t sing very often anymore”.
Hometown Glory songstress Adele, 38, stunned Formula 1 fans when she made a surprise appearance at McLaren Racing’s headquarters in recent weeks. While there, she was able to speak with drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, the current reigning champion.
Speaking in the interview with chief exec Zac Brown, she could barely hold herself together as she shared how excited she was to be there. She also explained how she was able to make new bonds with her son Angelo, 13, thanks to Formula 1 itself.
Adele explained that Angelo had recently gotten into karting, prompting her to introduce him to Formula 1. She explained she has been supporting him in his interests, admitting she herself has also been getting stuck into the fun.
“My son is really into karting and things like that,” she explained, “I don’t know. He just sort of asked about it a couple of years ago and I was like, ‘All right.’
“I don’t know many teenagers who have a passion so I’m really trying to encourage it. He’s obsessed but I’m also obsessed.”
She added: “But just like when your kid has an interest, you have to lean into it. More importantly, I think you have to be interested in it.
“And I don’t think I ever expected to bond with my soon to be 14 year-old son about something so passionately where we like argue about drivers, you know. But it’s fun to have that interaction with a teenage boy in 2026, I wasn’t expecting it.”
Adele was later asked in the chat by driver Lando whether she is still a fan of music and singing. She then admitted she was not as active in music, revealing: “I don’t sing very often anymore.”
She also spoke candidly about how her life has changed since becoming famous, revealing the more “ridiculous” parts of her life. The Rolling in the Deep star said she would never have believed she would be a singer, but would not have minded being in the music industry.
“I wanted to be an A&R. I never thought that I was the talent,” Adele revealed. “I knew I was really good with music, which is why I thought I’d be so good at discovering new talent.
“It is incredibly unlikely that a girl from Tottenham is going to go on to have any kind of career in England, let alone sort of universally and stuff like that. So, it was never an option.”
