Ant and Dec may already have the idea for their next television venture after joking about creating an animated comedy starring the pets of some of showbiz’s biggest names.

The presenting duo shared the off-the-wall concept while chatting on their podcast, revealing they had imagined a Tom and Jerry-inspired series centred around their own dogs.

Ant McPartlin, 50, explained: “We were gonna do an animated series where our dogs live next door to each other.

“You see our legs a bit like the old Tom and Jerry s where you never see the top half but you hear our voices and see our dogs.”

The pair’s four-legged friends would then head off on adventures with the pets of famous celebrities living nearby.

Ant continued: “They get up to mischief with other people’s dogs, and so it’s like a stellar street of famous people’s dogs and it’s animated.

“We might do that, we might do a little development on that…”

The conversation quickly descended into the pair inventing imaginary pets for some of the biggest names in entertainment.

Ant declared: “Dua Lipa’s got a snake, I know that for a fact. Well, it’s not a fact but in my head Dua Lipa has a snake.”

He went on to imagine Chris Martin “absolutely” owning a ferret, Jamie Oliver having a golden retriever, Alison Hammond sharing her home with a parrot that “talks just like her” and Cat Deeley, unsurprisingly, owning a cat.

Declan Donnelly, 50, even joked that music mogul Simon Cowell would have “a sinister little pussycat” with “an eye patch” playing the harmless animals “nemesis”

Dec insisted that it was just a “hypothetical TV show we’re about to develop”, however Ant said he’s still keen on pitching the idea to telly bosses.

He said: “I still think we should do a kids TV series, a kid’s animated TV series”, Dec interrupted: “I agree”.
