David and Victoria Beckham were left devastated after Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz sent a lawyer’s letter requesting they stop reaching out to them or mentioning them on social media
David and Victoria Beckham were left heartbroken by a legal demand to cease all direct communication with their son.
The couple were reportedly crushed after being served with a solicitor’s letter from Brooklyn and his new bride Nicola Peltz last summer, instructing them to halt any attempts at contact or even social media mentions.
The move has been branded as “ridiculously heavy-handed and over the top” in certain circles, with speculation swirling over whether Brooklyn is truly the driving force behind this drastic step.
However, another insider familiar with the circumstances revealed: “Nobody had ever wanted to do something like this, but unfortunately, Brooklyn’s request had constantly gone ignored by his family…he did what he had to do to protect himself.”
The correspondence – dispatched by the couple’s legal representatives Schillings to Harbottle and Lewis, who represent the Beckhams – was simply a formal request and hasn’t resulted in any proceedings, reports the Mirror.
Yet news of its existence emerges following previous instances where Nicola and her relatives have taken legal action against their wedding organisers and pet groomers.
Questions have been raised about whether Brooklyn’s welfare was truly being prioritised when it came to mending family ties.
This follows earlier allegations that Nicola was “controlling” him, though others maintain Brooklyn is “very much his own man” and dismiss any notion that Nicola was pulling the strings as “misogynistic.”
It’s believed that pursuing legal channels was considered a “last resort for all of them”, with hopes that matters could be sorted out privately and through diplomatic means. It’s believed that David and Victoria had simply reached out to the pair hoping to arrange a meeting and sort things out, making the legal move all the more shocking for them.
Nicola’s father has previously enlisted lawyer Marty Singer, who has represented Prince Andrew and Bill Cosby, to take legal action against wedding planners Nicola Braghin and Arianna Grijalba, who organised Nicola and Brooklyn’s 2022 nuptials. The matter was ultimately resolved through settlement.
The Beckhams are thought to remain optimistic that the rift will eventually heal, with a friend previously stating they would “always be there” for their son. The row escalated after Brooklyn and Nicola failed to attend David’s 50th birthday bash in London.
The Mirror disclosed last week that Brooklyn maintains contact with both sets of grandparents. A source revealed: “While things between him and his parents are over… Brooklyn is still very fond of his grandparents. There is a lot of love for them, and that has never faltered.”
A particularly painful moment occurred when they didn’t extend an invitation to the Beckhams for their vow renewal ceremony, three years after their original wedding. Discussing the August ceremony, Brooklyn commented: “We just wanted a really beautiful experience. To be honest, I could renew my vows every single day with her. I think the most important thing that someone can do is find that person that they’re going to spend the rest of their life with. It definitely shapes you as a person. Yeah, it was really, really cute. It was really fun.”
