Bollywood actor Suneil Anand, son of Indian film legend Dev Anand, has died aged 70 after reportedly suffering a heart attack in London while travelling to India from the US

A beloved actor has has tragically passed away after a fatal heart attack.

Suneil Anand died at the age of 70. The renowned Hindi actor’s death was confirmed by his niece, Gina Narang, who said: “With heavy hearts, our family mourns the passing of Suneil Anand. We are comforted by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support, for which we are truly grateful. We kindly request privacy as we navigate this difficult time together.”

Suneil was the son of Indian cinema legend Dev Anand, who was regarded as one of the most accomplished actors in Indian film history with a career spanning more than six decades.

The star heartbreakingly died in the very same hospital as his father following a heart attack in London while journeying to India from the US. According to reports via NDTV.com, following the initial examination, medics had planned to carry out a stent procedure.

Tragically, before the operation could commence, he suffered a second heart attack. Devastatingly, he could not be saved and passed away.

News of Suneil’s passing sparked an enormous wave of tributes from grief-stricken fans right across social media, reports the Express.

One devastated fan wrote: “Deepest condolences on the passing of filmmaker and actor #SuneilAnand ji, beloved son of the late #DevAnand ji. He was a true gentleman, known for his warmth, grace, and deep love for cinema. It’s heartbreaking.”

Another shared: “My heart breaks for Mona Singha Ji, otherwise known as Kalpana Kartik, wife of #DevAnand, mother of #SuneilAnand. To outlive both your husband and son…truly sad.”

Fellow actor Raj Babbar said: “Deepest condolences on the passing of filmmaker and actor #SuneilAnand ji, beloved son of the late #DevAnand ji. He was a true gentleman, known for his warmth, grace, and deep love for cinema.

“It’s heartbreaking that his plans to make a film in tribute to his father remained unfinished. May his family find strength, comfort, and peace in these difficult times. Holding you close in my thoughts, brother.”

Another devastated fan said: “Sad. RIP! Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends.

“I was very sad to hear about the passing of Dev Anand’s son, Suneil ji. Condolences to his family, and I pray his soul rests in peace,” a sixth person wrote.

Suneil launched his acting career in 1984 with Anand Aur Anand, helmed by his father Dev. During his time in the industry, he also appeared in movies including Car Thief, Main Tere Liye and Master.

The performer had previously revealed plans to work on a picture honouring his father and told journalists: “It’s a huge movie dedicated to my father. I am producing and directing. The show goes on. I will continue to take my father’s legacy forward.”
