Bradley Walsh has confirmed he’s stepping down from hosting BBC favourite Blankety Blank, admitting his packed TV schedule has left him with ‘no time’ to continue fronting the hit show
Bradley Walsh has revealed he’s stepping away from one of his biggest BBC shows after admitting his packed work schedule has left him with no time to continue hosting it.
The TV favourite, 66, confirmed he won’t be returning to present Blankety Blank, having fronted the revived version of the long-running gameshow since 2020. Bradley has hosted three series of the BBC reboot, but says a string of other television commitments means filming another run simply isn’t possible right now.
Speaking to the Radio Times, he explained: “I just don’t have the time, which is sad because I’ve loved Blankety Blank. It’s been one of my favourite shows, and it’s been brilliant… It’s the most fun you can have in the studio, and I just cannot at the moment work on it.
“I just have not got the time. I would normally go to studio October, but I’m all taken up in October and November, so I just haven’t time to do it. Maybe next year.”
Bradley is one of the busiest stars on British television, juggling several hit programmes across both the BBC and ITV.
He has hosted ITV’s The Chase since the quiz show first launched in 2009 and also fronts spin-off Beat the Chasers.
Over on the BBC, he presents the hugely popular reboot of Gladiators alongside his son Barney Walsh, while the pair also star together in ITV travel series Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad.
Away from television, Bradley is preparing to hit the road with his comedy pals as part of The Prat Pack tour.
The live show will see him joined by Brian Conley, Shane Richie and Joe Pasquale for a string of dates across the UK, running from September 2 until September 26.
Blankety Blank first launched back in 1979 with Sir Terry Wogan at the helm before Les Dawson took over hosting duties between 1984 and 1990.
The iconic quiz show was later revived in 1997, with Paul O’Grady presenting as his much-loved drag alter ego, Lily Savage, until 2002.
