Coronation Street’s Tanisha Gorey has been playing Asha Alahan on the ITV soap for over a decade.
Asha Alahan has had her fair share of romances while on Coronation Street – but in real life, actress Tanisha Gorey is loved-up with her partner.
Aged just six, Tanisha joined the long-running ITV soap back in 2009 – and the telly star has played a part in several big storylines. From a mental health struggle to teenage skin-bleaching, it’s fair to say her time on the cobbles has not been short of drama.
Away from the soap though, Tanisha is engaged to her rarely-seen beau who has a very different job… Here’s everything we know about Tanisha’s love life with her fiancé.
Tanisha’s romance with Lucas
Tanisha and partner Lucas – who works in finance – went public with their relationship in 2020, with Manchester student Lucas posting a sweet birthday tribute to Tanisha on Instagram.
He wrote: “Want to wish the biggest happy birthday to the best girlfriend anyone could ask for,” with a smiley face emoji. “You’re the best and hope you have the best day ever! Love you lots!”
Tanisha soon returned the favour, posting a collection of snaps of the pair that Christmas with the caption: “You are the best thing I could’ve ever wished for. I hope everyone had the merriest of Christmases… sending all our love xxx.”
Tanisha’s ’embarrassing secret’
In 2025, Tanisa candidly opened up about her romance with Lucas and gushed over him. She told The Mirror: “He’s great. He’s very supportive and very giving; he’s the most perfect person in my life. When I get home at 8 o’clock, my tea is cooked, the house is clean and the washing’s been done. He’s really supportive.”
The soap star also revealed that Lucas helps her with her lines, saying: “He will be the other characters – Dev, Bernie, Nina and Summer. He’s not an actor, so it’s hilarious – his job is the complete opposite of what I do, but I think he quite enjoys it!”
Tanisha then spoke her “embarrassing” secret, revealing how she unwinds after being involved in tough storylines on the soap. She said: “Because I was learning lines for the next day, there wasn’t a turn-off or escape from it. It is heavy, so my boyfriend pulls me out of it. He’ll say: ‘Let’s watch something a bit light-hearted tonight.’
“I’m really embarrassed to admit it, but I’m a Disney Channel girl, so two of the films I had to put on to cheer myself up were Hannah Montana: The Movie and High School Musical! Anything that’s light that reminds me of childhood and takes my mind off work.”
Tanisha’s home with Lucas
The pair were subsequently inundated with support when they announced they had purchased their first property together back in 2022. The soap actress told her social media followers she “couldn’t quite believe” they had bought their first home.
The revelation sparked a wave of congratulations from Tanisha’s industry colleagues, including Kel Allen, who wrot: “Yayyyyy home owners! A huge congratulations to you both.”
While the couple have opted to keep most of their home out of the public eye, Tanisha has revealed a few glimpses of their kitchen which boasts a light and spacious feel.
The white cupboards feature grey marble-effect worktops and white metro tiles create the splashback behind the induction cooktop.
Tanisha’s engagement to Lucas
Tanisha announced the thrilling news that she and Lucas became engaged in the first half of this year. Tanisha, who was overcome with emotion after Lucas proposed during their romantic getaway, posted a photograph of her engagement ring.
Displaying her diamond, the 24 year old celebrity told followers that she was “still crying”, following unexpected proposal. And it appears Lucas had planned everything meticulously, as Tanisha also revealed “just engaged” was written on a pink and white celebration cake.
