Coronation Street star Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby on the ITV soap, has been married to fellow soap actor for years
Coronation Street’s Leanne Battersby has experienced numerous romances on the soap, but in reality, actress Jane Danson is smitten with another soap star.
Jane catapulted to fame when she joined the ITV programme back in 1997, arriving as Leanne alongside the rest of the Battersby family, including sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor).
Over the years, Leanne has been involved in several major storylines; from shocking affairs and sex work to devastating baby loss and drug misuse. Recently in Weatherfield, she has kindled a romance with newcomer Idris Nazir (Junade Khan).
However, off-screen, actress Jane is actually wedded to fellow soap actor Robert Beck. Robert has featured in shows such as Brookside, Emmerdale and Waterloo Road.
He even made an appearance in Jane’s own soap Coronation Street back in 2008, portraying criminal Jimmy Dockerson. For his Emmerdale stint, he played villain Damon ‘Harry’ Harris in 1999, reports the Mirror.
The soap power couple Jane and Robert met in 1999 and exchanged vows in 2005. The duo are also parents to Harry – born in July 2006 and Sam – born in February 2009.
Jane and Rob first crossed paths in May 1999, at the British Soap Awards. Recalling their initial meeting Jane said: “I’m not the world’s most confident person but I’d had a crush on Rob since I was 15, so I thought, I have to speak to him, it’s fate.”
Appearing on Loose Women back in May 2025, Jane was questioned about her partner, and whether she ‘manifested’ wedding him. “I have got to be careful here because I’m a little bit younger than him…” she confessed.
“When I was at school, I had a sticker of him on my pencil case and a poster of him. He was in Brookside at the time, another soap that’s no longer around, but he was very big in the soap at the time. I liked him a lot and some years later, when I was a little bit older, he was at the soap awards!”.
In a candid discussion with OK! Magazine, Jane disclosed the key to her marriage with Robert, stating: “Me and my husband have been together for 22 years, and we’re really good friends as well as loving each other lots.”
She also previously revealed: “Rob’s absolutely my best friend in the world. We’ve only had about two rows in 20 years. I’m not saying we don’t get on each other’s nerves sometimes, but we’re a strong team and we’ve always allowed each other to be individuals.”
And in December last year, Jane posted a heartfelt tribute to Robert on their 20-year wedding anniversary. Posting a radiant photo of them on their special day, Jane wrote on Instagram: “Happy 20th wedding anniversary my love @robertbeck529.”
Her Corrie colleagues were swift to react. Her on-screen sister Georgia Taylor expressed: “Absolute couple goals. Love you both so much.” Andy Whyment responded: “Ah Happy 20th wedding anniversary you lovely couple. Enjoy your day.”
Samia Longchambon remarked: ” Happy big Anniversary you two!” Catherine Tyldesley chimed in with: “Happy Anniversary loves.”
