TV presenter Davina McCall shared an emotional health update with fans as she confirmed she has completed her radiotherapy treatment
The Masked Singer’s Davina McCall has reached out to fans following what she described as an “emotional day”.
The 57- year-old television personality turned to Instagram to share her thoughts on “National Quitters Day”.
In a clip uploaded to her social media platform, she revealed that January 9 marks the date when most people abandon their goals, including New Year’s resolutions. Davina declared: “But there’s nothing happy about that.
“We shouldn’t be celebrating that. We should have a happy ‘congratulations on still going for it when everyone else is giving up day’. That’s what we should say.”
She continued: “It is quite difficult at this time of year because all of the buzz of Christmas and New Year has subsided, and it is just a grey, stormy day.”
The presenter then plugged her podcast, Begin Again, calling it the “reset podcast”.
The television star then delivered a significant health announcement, revealing she had completed her radiotherapy treatment today. “It was very very emotional,” she confessed, reports the Express.
Fighting back tears, she added: “Much more emotional than I thought it would be. So I need a bit of positivity and brilliance.”
In her caption, Davina penned: “Today is #nationalquittersday… how depressing? ? Let’s reframe this! ! ! Also wanted to add to my post… I’m good, don’t worry about me x it’s been an emotional day, but I’m relieved, grateful, happy and hopeful @beginagain the ‘reset podcast’.”
Supporters rallied around her immediately, with one person writing: “Sending so much love Davina. Let’s Begin Again – all together x”.
Another fan expressed: “Aww Davina, what a tough year you’ve endured, sending you so much love and healing vibes,” whilst a third penned: “Well done Davina… you are doing so well… so happy you completed treatment.”
In November, Davina went under the knife for early-stage breast cancer, having a small lump surgically removed. She also revealed plans for five days of preventative radiotherapy in January as an “insurance policy” to prevent any recurrence.
The television star received her diagnosis after discovering a small lump during a breast self-examination, spurred on by Lorraine Kelly’s awareness campaign. She has been openly discussing her journey to inspire others to perform regular self-checks and detect cancer in its early stages.
This comes after her previous treatment for a benign brain tumour in late 2024.
