Country music legend Dolly Parton has died aged 80, her family have announced, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy and a jaw-dropping net worth estimated between £350m and £500m
Country music legend Dolly Parton passed away at age 80 on August 25.
At the time of her passing, the star’s fortune was estimated to range from $450 million to $650 million. The eye-watering figure represents the wealth she accumulated through her music, acting, songwriting, Hollywood film productions, alongside all her commercial and branding enterprises.
The remarkable net worth stems from Parton’s decades of work as a country performer, which commenced in the 1960s. The star boasted an impressive 41 top-10 country albums along with 25 No.1 hit singles.
During her solo career, she shifted over 100 million albums, excluding her accomplishments on collaborations and guest appearances. This also excludes any tracks she composed for fellow artists, reports the Mirror US.
For instance, Whitney Houston’s rendition of I Will Always Love You reportedly generated the country legend $20 million alone. It became the best-selling single of all time by a female performer.
Parton also achieved success through acting, featuring in beloved films such as 9 to 5, The Best Little Wh—house in Texas and Steel Magnolias, amongst others.
Parton additionally branched into film production, establishing her own production firm with long-term business associate Sandy Gallin in 1986, Sandollar Productions. The enterprise produced films including Father of the Bride, Fly Away Home and the 1992 movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The singer’s death was announced by her family through a video shared on social media by her nephew. The post confirmed that she had “died peacefully in Nashville.”

While the precise cause of death has not been disclosed, she had been facing recent health issues, including battles with dehydration, dizziness, and kidney stones, which led her to delay performances and travel during her final year.
