Gemma took to Instagram to admit she was completely devastated after her mum Joan passed away on Wednesday, saying she had passed away surrounded by her loved ones
Gemma Collins has been left devastated after her mum Joan died. Taking to her Instagram, she confirmed she was “shattered into a million pieces” after her tragic death at the age of 70.
Joan was a feature of Gemma’s life, making her own appearances on various TV shows including The Only Way is Essex. She also made cameos on her own shows, as well as helping to market and promote her brands.
Fans have taken to the comments section to offer their condolences to the Celebrity Big Brother star. In the devastating post on Instagram, Gemma shared a number of snaps of her mum as she explained she had been battling a short illness.
“My heart is shattered into a million pieces. Today our beautiful mum passed away peacefully surrounded by love mum,” Gemma wrote on Wednesday (July 29). “Today, every piece of my heart left with you. No words will ever be enough to thank you for loving me, guiding me, and being my mum.”
She continued in the heartbreaking post: “You gave me life, you gave me strength, and you gave me memories that I will carry for every day I have left. The house will never sound the same without you.
“Your voice, your smile, your little ways, they are woven into every corner of my life. I will miss you more than I could ever put into words.”
Gemma said that as a result of her death, Joan would no longer be in pain and could now walk again in heaven. She finished off by saying she hopes Joan can now laugh again and can “feel light” away from her burden.
Gemma’s darling mum Joan had been in hospital just last month after contracting pneumonia once again. This was not the first time that she had to be taken in for treatment, after she was rushed in to see doctors at Broomfield Hospital last year.
Joan was a regular feature in Gemma’s ventures, including her time on TOWIE, and quickly cemented herself as a fan favourite. Viewers warmed to her caring nature and wise advice to Gemma and her Essex pals on the ITV2 show before she left the programme.
One of Gemma’s fellow TOWIE co-stars, Megan McKenna, led tributes to Joan, sending their condolences to Gemma after her tragic loss. Rushing to the comments, Megan wrote: “”Oh Gemma my heart breaks for you. I’m so sorry. Thinking of you so much.”
Fellow co-star Billie Shepherd also penned: “”Sending you so much love Gemma. Your beautiful mum will be forever proud of you. Thinking of you all. Absolutely gutted to hear this. Lots of love darling.”
