EXCLUSIVE: Dane Bowers claimed he doesn’t recall much from his relationship with Katie Price but knows of her new ‘comical’ husband, Lee Andrews, from his Dubai lifestyle
Katie Price’s ex Dane Bowers has said that it was “interesting” to be reminded of his relationship with the glamour model, but that her new husband Lee Andrews is “bizarre.”
Another Level frontman Bowers, 46, was in a public relationship with the Pricey from 1998 until 2000. Since the brief two year period, Katie confessed that Dane was the “love of [her] life.” Despite this, Katie married Lee earlier this year. Since then, their marriage has been surrounded with suspicion as the social media star has consistently been accused of faking his identity with AI generated images.
It was also said he has a travel ban, which prevents him from going back to the UK to be with his wife. He last month cancelled a morning TV appearance at the last minute, creating more controversy. Dane was speaking on behalf of Zingo Bingo a new, online bingo brand with several music-themed bingo rooms
In her latest documentary, Katie Price: Nothing to Hide, the star opened up about her life in the spotlight from the creation of Jordan to her most recent marriage to Dubai-based businessman and self-confessed billionaire, Lee.
Bowers, who also lives in Dubai, admitted that he knows of Lee – but isn’t too complimentary.
When asked whether he knows about Katie and Lee’s tumultuous public relationship, he said: “Well, as much as we can know what’s going on, yeah.
“I know the circles he’s in, and I know enough to know that he bizarrely talks some strange, weird stuff that’s not true. So yeah, that’s all we all know. I think it’s more comical. It’s a bit weird.”
As for his own relationship with Katie, the star added: “It was a long time ago. There’s no reason for me to be upset, hateful. It’s none of my business, it doesn’t affect me what she does and what she’s doing.”
Despite the mum-of-five going on to marry Peter Andre, Alex Reid, Kieran Hayler and Lee, she has insisted Dane was her soulmate. In the four-part Sky documentary, Katie Price: Nothing To Hide, she says, “Dane was the love of my life. I loved him’, before adding, “Why did he f*** it up?”
In Katie’s documentary, the glamour model suggested that Dane couldn’t cope with the jealousy of Katie doing racy shoots. Jordan even said she started wearing tops to appease him.
On the struggles they both shared, Dane said: “There has to be trust on both sides. Even now, like, the whole public eye and that sort of thing is not really for me especially in terms of relationships. So that would always be hard for me anyway.
“The whole jealousy bit, or the other stuff, that’s a different conversation, but yeah it’s not particularly fun. It’s not something you really should have to deal with when you’re dealing with other stuff in a relationship as it is. It’s a bit too much.”
Despite Katie suggesting Dane was the love of her life, he is not so sure.
“I know she’s said that every few months. I was 18. I think I was 18, 19. Yeah, it was crazy.”
Dane has remained silent on the topic of his entanglement with Katie for years, but said it was different this time when he got the call to be on the show.
“I get asked about it all the time, obviously, and I’ve never really been bothered to talk about it. But I knew the team doing [the doc].
“My management said, ‘Look, these guys want to chat, do a chat’ I’m like, ‘Okay, why not?’
“I didn’t have masses of memories about it. Like, they had to remind me a lot. My memory’s terrible. It’s quite interesting on that front. And obviously, it was about being in a relationship at that time and what it was like being in the public eye doing that.
“So my girlfriend now, like, I said to her, ‘They’ve asked me this thing.’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, go for it.’
“I think she finds it all quite interesting as well. We’ve all got a past, and it was interesting to be reminded of some stuff.”
