Legal expert reveals what Brooklyn Beckham’s warning to parents really means during feud

Brooklyn Beckham has sent his famous parents David and Victoria a legal warning, telling them to contact him only via lawyers and to stop tagging him on Instagram

Brooklyn Beckham appears to have turned his back on his family for good as he has sent his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, a legal letter stating they can only contact him through his lawyers from now on, it has emerged.

The notice states that the famous family can only reach out to him and his billionaire heiress wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham through their lawyers. The shock letter has sparked speculation over family tensions – with rumours brewing since their last public appearance together at Christmas in 2024. It is thought that the row started at Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding, when fashion designer Victoria was snubbed from making her daughter-in-law’s dress.

Since then, Brooklyn has been notably missing from all social media posts, until it was sensationally revealed by youngest son Cruz that Brooklyn had blocked his family – including his younger sister, Harper Seven, 14.

The “desist” letter also instructs Posh and Becks not to “tag” their eldest son on social media as he feels “overwhelmed” by their constant public posts. And it is thought Brooklyn blocked his parents on Instagram after mum Victoria liked a roast chicken video that he had shared, which was considered a breach of the legal request.

Now, family lawyer Kiran Beeharry, Partner and Joint Head of the Family Law team at SA Law, explained what the notice could mean for Posh and Becks – and the dire consequences they could face for breaching the warning.

Beeharry explained: “The ‘Legal Notice’ can be construed as a pre-action warning letter against harassment and injunctions”.

He went on to add that any breach of this could mean “harassment” injunctions could be brought to the door of the Beckham’s Cotswold abode.

Beeharry added that the Beckhams would likely have to communicate with Brooklyn only through lawyers: “Because of the PR issues, one would expect the Beckhams to respect the notice and only contact Brooklyn via his lawyers.

“In respect of tags on social media posts, this potentially opens up issues in respect of sharing private photos. People have a right to enjoy a ‘private family life’ and sharing private photos without consent could encroach on this right”.

When asked about what could await the pair if the notice were breached, Kiran said: “If non-molestation injunction orders were made the consequences of this could lead to a fine or a term of imprisonment”.

He also addressed other scenarios. Regarding posting private Instagram photos, he said: “There could be legal arguments in respect of breaches of privacy.”

On whether David and Victoria could message Brooklyn directly, he said: “They could, but this would be contrary to the ‘legal notice’ they have been sent.”

But it’s not all bad news for the family. If they all appeared at the same public event, they could in fact approach each other face to face. However, it wouldn’t be a flowing conversation: “what is also said in the ‘legal notice.’”
