Lisa Snowdon has revealed she missed out on taking over the ‘Strictly presenting reins from Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly. The model turned TV presenter competed on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2008 during the show’s sixth series, coming third. She has been keen to land a new TV challenge of late and was up for the vacant ‘Strictly role which eventually went to Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe.

Lisa told Prima: “I would love another big TV presenting gig. Taking part in Strictly was such fun, and I would have jumped at the chance to be a new presenter, but that didn’t come up for me.”

Instead Lisa has come up with her own show: “I’d like to do a show offering midlife makeovers for everyone – it’s not just women that come to a crossroads in their life, men do, too. Something that speaks to my soul, that helps people not just dress in a different way but also live in a different way.”

Snowdon was a regular on telly and radio for many years but admits since reaching middle age she has reassessed her career.

“I’m 54 now and see this time in my life as a new chapter,” she said. “It’s important to reframe ageing in a more positive way. It takes time for that readjustment to happen, but now I’m in this powerful place where it’s about, ‘What do I want? What do I need?’

“I don’t have children, so it’s easier for me than mums juggling teenage children, but it’s a powerful time for us to reconnect with ourselves and make big life changes. It’s the second spring.”

Lisa Snowdon has been very open about her difficult perimenopause journey starting in her early 40s. She admits it later impacted her relationship with alcohol.

“During menopause, I found that wine would trigger rages for me,” she revealed. “I used to get so angry after a few glasses. All of a sudden, I’d turn into the devil and I had no idea why. I felt groggy and heavy and I didn’t sleep. Now, I have much less alcohol. I’m not going to deny myself, but it’s about balance.”

The menopause made her feel like she could no longer work.

Lisa explained: “At the height of my menopause, anxiety really impacted my work. My confidence was at rock bottom, and I was having panic attacks thinking, ‘I can’t do my job.’ My mind was playing tricks on me.

“One time, I had a hosting job in front of 1,000 people, all in the industry, and I had panic attacks, thinking, ‘How do I get out of it?’ It messed with my head, I lost myself. There were jobs I turned down that I should’ve done, but I can’t dwell on it.”

The September 2026 issue of Prima is now on sale.
