EXCLUSIVE: Love Island stars Tina Rad and Tommy Murphy have lifted the lid on life after the villa – including the chaotic WhatsApp group chat that keeps the Islanders connected
The Love Island 2026 cast group chat has been causing chaos already – and some cast members haven’t been warmly welcomed in.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, Tommy Murphy and Tina Rad admitted the group has become the go-to place for organising reunions, sharing memes and keeping everyone updated after leaving the ITV dating show. Tina revealed she’s taken on the role of welcoming new Islanders as they leave the villa.
Tommy explained: “Tina messages everyone as soon as they come out. It’s quite cute, really.” Laughing, Tina added: “And then I add them in the group chat.” While Tommy insisted he’s technically the one in charge, he admitted his admin duties have caused a few disagreements. “I’m in the group chat. I’m the admin,” he joked. “So I put the approval on.”
However, Tina was quick to reveal he almost refused to let one Islander join. “He was trying to not let people in,” she laughed. “I was like, ‘You can’t do that.'”
Trying to remember who it was, Tina asked: “Was it not Carlos? You were like, ‘He’s not allowed in.'” Tommy corrected her: “It was Chidi.”
Still confused by the decision, Tina replied: “Chidi! And I was like, ‘Don’t let him in.’ He’s so cute. Why didn’t you want him in?”
Tommy insisted it wasn’t personal. “I didn’t not want him in,” he explained. “I was just like, whoa, too many requests that day. The chat was going off.”
The pair admitted the group chat has become non-stop since the series ended. “It’s hectic. It’s crazy,” Tommy said. “Everyone just puts stupid stuff in there.”
Asked what kind of messages fill the chat, Tommy laughed: “I just put memes and that in there, stupid videos.” Tina added that it’s also where the former Islanders organise nights out together.
“When we link up, where we’re going, what we’re wearing,” she said.
Tommy, however, joked the conversation has now become dominated by the girls. “It’s turning into a girls’ group chat now, I’ll be honest,” he laughed.
The light-hearted chat comes just days after Tommy found himself at the centre of one of the biggest post-villa talking points.
The Islander sparked controversy after secretly filming Tina listening to a voice note from Namibia “Mibs” Adjei before uploading the clip online, prompting Mibs to brand him a “clout chaser” and “pot stirrer” during the Love Island: Aftersun finale.
Speaking to the Daily Star earlier this week, Tina admitted she was still hoping to clear the air with Mibs after the pair’s disagreement spilled into the real world.
“We’re going to speak tonight,” she explained at the time. “We’ll see how that goes. I didn’t have any beef. I didn’t make that up. I just want to know why. Hopefully, it could get squashed tonight.”
Tommy couldn’t resist stirring the pot during that interview too, joking that Tina was still waiting for an apology, while Tina insisted: “I think I’m owed an apology. I’ve done nothing wrong.”
