If you’re up for braving the blistering heat there’s plenty happening across the country in August as the UK hits the middle of festival season. The Daily Star has put together a handy guide of what to expect and where you can see your favourite artist – whether that’s Tom Jones, Lily Allen, Madness, or Charli XCX.
Palace Bowl Presents
A whole host of artists will perform at Crystal Palace Bowl across two weeks this month including Tom Jones, Lenny Kravitz, Gary Numan, Bastille and The Wombats. There really is something for everyone.
Electric Paradise
This one day event will take place on Saturday 8 August at Milton Keynes Bowl with a stellar line up featuring Grace Jones, Candi Staton, UB40, Kool & The Gang across an epic six stages.
Boardmasters
Taking place in the stunning area of Newquay in Cornwall, Boardmasters is one of our personal favourites.
And the line-up is as loud as ever with Kasabian, The Kooks, Lily Allen, Loyle Carner and many more on this year’s bill.
Ricky Gervais: Work In Progress
Beloved comedian Ricky Gervais will bring his Work In Progress show to London’s Leicester Square Theatre on August 17 and 18. He promises hilarious new material and a few familiar faces joining him too.
Paw Patrol takes over summer
One for the families, Paw Patrol have promised an action-packed Paw-tastic summer ahead of the release of Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, out August 5.
The pups are bringing their prehistoric adventure to London with the launch of the Dino Hunt Trail at Westfield White City on August 1 & 2, plus the Paw Patrol-themed-land at Chessington World of Adventures and is now open and worth checking out.
Lakefest
Lakefest is the UK’s fasted growing independent festival and is one that provides plenty of family fun.
Taking place at Eastnor Castle, Herts., from August 5 the likes of The Charlatans, Example, Madness, Bananarama and Bez will provide non-stop entertainment, whilst there’s also stalls and funfair rides too.
The Weeknd
Canadian megastar The Weeknd’s After Hours Till Dawn tour with Playboi Carti hits the UK with five nights at Wembley Stadium kicking off on August 14th. A renowned performer who will put on a big show.
Ariana Grande
After wowing in two-part blockbuster Wicked Ariana Grande is in town for a huge ten-night residency at London’s The O2 – It promises to be an unforgettable gig and may be her last in the UK for a while
Boomtown
This will be a loud one as this year there’s a bunch of classic names fronting the bill including Madness, Shaggy, Scissor Sisters, Faithless and Shy FX.
It’s held in Winchester from Wednesday 12 – Sunday 16 August
Bebe Rexha – London’s KOKO
Not only is she known for writing some of pop’s biggest banger, but popstar Bebe Rexha is an incredible live vocalist too. And she’s in London for a special Dirty Blonde pop-up show at KOKO on August 20.
All Points East
An absolute classic – All Points East will again return to London’s Victoria Park with one of its biggest line-ups yet.
Kicking off on Friday August 21 and running until Sunday 30th, huge names such as Tyler, The Creator, Lorde, Jorja Smith and Twenty One Pilots will take to the stage.
Reading & Leeds Festival
Whether you attend Reading festival or Leeds it’s a guaranteed belter of a weekend.
This year is no different with three incredible headliners fronting the bill – Charli XCX, Dave and Raye, with plenty of massive acts providing support such as Florence + The Machine, Chase & Status
Creamfields
One for the dancers amongst us.
Creamfields will take place in Daresbury, Cheshire from Thursday 27 – Sunday 30 August and the muddy field will be transformed into a dance floor as Calvin Harris, Disclosure, Martin Garrix, Alesso, Carl Cox and more provide non-stop bangers
Big Feastival
Probably the most family-friendly festival there is.
Big Feastival genuinely has something for all ages – Hosted by Blur’s Alex James on his Cotswolds farm there’s massive music sets by the likes of Bastille, Rudimental, The Streets and Perrie.
Plus plenty of kids’ entertainment from Justin Fletcher, Nick Cope, and more, plus farm animals, fairground rides, and baby and toddler areas. It takes place from August 28 to August 30.
LIDO festival
Closing August, and festival season is LIDO.
It promises a ‘fan-first’ experience at London’s Victoria Park on August 31 with big performances by Maribou State with special guests Kelis, Folamour, Theo Parrish b2b Moodymann.
