An actor who starred in a beloved Netflix production has sadly died after suffering a brain haemorrhage and falling into a coma, from which he sadly never woke up
A Netflix actor has died at the age of just 46. South Korean actor Jeon Seung-jae’s death was confirmed on Wednesday 29 July.
Before his death, the performer’s health suddenly deteriorated in 2024 when he collapsed while filming the TV drama Koryeo-Goran War. It emerged that Jeon had endured a brain haemorrhage and required emergency surgery, leaving him in a coma from which he tragically never awakened.
News that Jeon was battling for his life wasn’t shared publicly until three months following his collapse, which triggered an enormous wave of support from fans. During that period, Jeon’s co-stars Park Ji Yeon and Seong Do Hyun offered prayers and promoted a donation link.
They urged supporters: “Please send your prayers for him to give him strength. Small acts of sincerity are most needed right now. Please join hands to help him.” Fans have now been left devastated as news of his passing spread across social media, reports the Express. Writing on X/Twitter, one supporter posted: “Too sad. Rest In Peace.”
A second fan mourned: “My deepest condolences. Mourning once again for the world of Korean cinema,” as another person joined in: “My condolences to all who knew him, especially his family. May he rest in peace,” commented another.
A fourth person shared: “This is soooo sad. I’m heartbroken by this news. RIP Jeon Seung-jae.”
When the actor was taken to hospital, his heartbroken elder sister, Jeon Seong-young, revealed to StarNews: “My younger brother had no major abnormalities during his health checkup just last December and had no problems with his physical condition in general. It was so sudden.”
Jeon began acting in the 2004 film Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War and from there, he went on to star in Bokmyeon Dalho, Netflix’s The Good, The Bad, The Weird, and Haeundae.
His credits also include Hello Ghost, The Age of Shadows, and Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days, while securing parts in television dramas like Splendid Politics and High Kick Through the Roof.
It has now been announced that a funeral procession will take place at 6am on the 31st of July.
