Lauren Bennett’s dad, Richard, has posted an emotional tribute to his “pride and joy”, after it was announced that the GRL singer had tragically died at the age of just 36
Lauren Bennett’s dad Richard has spoken out after her death at the age of 36. He has said the GRL singer had suffered a “severe reaction to a prescribed medication” in the months prior to her death.
Lauren, who sang on hit song Party Rock Anthem, sadly died on May 29. Police confirmed on Tuesday (July 7) that a call had been made regarding concerns for Lauren’s welfare. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Richard has paid tribute to his “incredible” and “beautiful” daughter in an emotional post on Instagram. Alongside a photo of the star, he wrote: “It is with a broken heart that I share the loss of my beautiful and talented daughter, @laurenbennett, the love of my life and my pride and joy.
“Lauren was an incredible person and artist: creative, talented, funny, and as humble as she was beautiful. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and made a lasting impact on countless lives through her music, her kindness, and the way she made people feel.
“From an early age, it was clear that Lauren had a very special gift. She began performing professionally at just 12 years old, and watching her grow into the artist she became was one of the greatest joys of my life. Her achievements in the music industry were beyond our wildest dreams and continue to make me so proud.
Richard went on to criticise “medical professionals and NHS services” for what he claims is a lack of support. He continued: “Months before her death, Lauren experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication. As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her.
“We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need.
“Lauren was deeply loved and will be missed every day for the rest of our lives. I hope she will be remembered for her remarkable achievements, her beautiful music, and the incredible person she was. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, her family, and through the music she leaves behind.
He added: “As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we kindly ask for privacy and respect as our family grieves. We are deeply grateful for the love, support, and kindness shown by friends, fans, and everyone else who has reached during this incredibly difficult time.”
Kent Police told the Mirror: “Kent Police was called to an address in Meopham at about 2pm on Friday 29 May 2026 following concerns for the welfare of a person.
“Officers attended, along with SECAMB and a woman in her 30s was pronounced deceased. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been prepared for the coroner.”
On Monday, Lauren’s former GRL bandmates announced the tragic death of the singer. Emmalyn, Natasha and Paula said: “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren. Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.
“Rest peacefully, sweet Lauren. You will always be in our hearts. Your GRLS, Em, Tash, and P.”
Lauren shot onto the music scene as a member of The Paradiso Girls in 2007. After the group disbanded, Lauren found herself in GRL with Natasha Slayton, Emmalyn Estrada, Paula van Oppen and the late Simone Battle.
The group achieved global success with hits such as Vacation, and their song Wild Wild Love with Pitbull. But Lauren herself scored a huge hit with LMFAO on their 2011 track Party Rock Anthem.
In 2019, Lauren and her partner, Footloose star Kenny Wormald, revealed they were expecting their first baby together. Their daughter, Harlow, arrived on September 6, 2019. Bennett leaves behind daughter Harlow and partner Kenny.
