Pete Wicks creates cosy nook for his dogs dubbed ‘family’ and details how to do your own

Dog lover Pete Wicks has created and unveiled a cosy nook for his beloved pet pooches and has encouraged others to try their hand at designing ‘safe’ spaces for their pups

Like animal-lover Pete Wicks Britain has officially become a nation of ‘pet parents’ and the way the family home is being set-up reflects that with more and more of us prioritising making our pets feel safe, comfortable and cosy.

Now, former reality star and devoted dog dad Pete, 37, has teamed up with Dulux to create the perfect bespoke space for his dogs Rodney and Eric.

Pete worked closely with Dulux Creative Director and Colour Expert Marianne Shillingford to design the nook, inspired by Rodney and Eric as well as his late French bulldog Peggy who sadly passed away at the end of 2025.

Designed to reflect each dog through carefully chosen Dulux Easycare colours, the nook brings together calming, pet-friendly tones and a tough, wipeable finish that stands up to everyday paw prints, scuffs and splashes.

The star said: “My dogs are a massive part of my life, so they are always going to be part of how I think about design in my home.

“Anyone with dogs will get it – they’re family, they take over your heart, and before you know it, everything revolves around them in one way or another!

“Every dog deserves their own little space, somewhere they feel safe, comfy and completely at home. For me, it was about creating something inspired by them that not only looks good but gives them somewhere to properly relax and just do their thing.”

In honour of 65 years of the iconic Dulux Dog, the brand has conducted new research to reveal just how much our love of pets is shaping the way we live.

Nearly two thirds of Brits (64%) now consider themselves a ‘pet parent’ and more than half of Brits (54%) say their pet directly influences how they decorate their home, with 81% of owners creating a dedicated space for them.

Meanwhile, nearly one in five (19%) have even given them a room of their own.

Marianne has shared helpful tips of how pet owners can follow in Pete’s footsteps and create their own nook including choose a quiet spot your pet already loves, incorporate soft bedding and thoughtful colour choices, pick durable and wipeable paints, and finally think about choices from your pet’s perspectives.
