Former X Factor winner Sam Bailey has opened up on her relationship with mentor Sharon Osbourne, who she chose to be the godmother of her child after reaching the final
A former X Factor winner has opened up on her past friendship with series mentor Sharon Osbourne. Sharon guided ex-prison officer Sam Bailey to the final under her guidance in the 2013 series.
When questioned about whether she is still close to Sharon considering she is her child’s godmother, Sam told Express.co.uk: “I haven’t seen or spoken to Sharon for a while, but what can you say to her? She’s just lost Ozzy. I think, like everyone, she would want to just take a little step back and be allowed to grieve. So no, I haven’t spoken to her for a while.”
Sam also spoke about the past 13 years since winning the UK talent show: “Sometimes I get to meet people, like all kinds of big celebrities. I’ve never seen myself as being a celebrity though, so I still fan girl over people!”
“Over the past 13 years, I have met some absolute icons. It’s been an absolute hoot meeting the likes of Celine Dion and working with all these amazing people. I feel like I get really inspired by these people and learn a lot from them.”
Sam’s children also want to pursue careers in the entertainment industry: “My eldest daughter has just graduated from drama school so she’s going into the same sort of field and my son wants to be an actor. He is very much inspired by Stephen Graham.”
“My son is autistic and he has epilepsy, so it is very difficult for him, but Stephen actually reached out and sent me some voice notes to give him a bit of a boost,” reports the Express.
She will soon be taking centre stage in London’s Mamma Mia! The Party.: “I have seen firsthand how much joy Mamma Mia! The Party brings to people, and I could not be more thrilled to be part of this experience.”
“No night ever looks the same! I cannot wait to join the rest of the cast performing the best of ABBA’s songs and bringing to life this fabulous party night after night.”
“I’m very excited. My character is Debbie, she’s a bit loopy but she is a lovable soul who wears her heart on her sleeve. It really is going to be such good fun.”
