Shocking actor transformations as Martin Clunes seen as disgraced Huw Edwards

Martin Clunes isn’t the first actor to brave it and play a notorious figure.

The Doc Martin star, 64, is playing convicted sex offender Huw Edwards, the former BBC newsreader who was found guilty of making indecent images of children. The Channel 5 drama will reportedly document Edwards’ fall from grace and his alleged grooming of a 17-year-old.

Clunes has been seen in the controversial role for the first time, pictured channelling Huw Edwards at the BBC. He was wearing the black suit Edwards wore during his then-celebrated coverage of the late Queen’s death.

He’s sporting Edwards’ combed grey hair and arched eyebrow while sat at the news desk. While shocking to see for many, Martin is not the first actor to play a disgraced star.

Daily Star has rounded up some of the most surprising transformations from actors who played notorious or controversial real-life figures.
