Television presenter and author Susannah Constantine has shared the remarkable results of her weight loss transformation after dropping a stone.

The 64-year-old revealed she dropped a stone in around 12 weeks and no longer craves the sweet treats she once ate every day. And to really show off her remarkable progress, she posted a swimsuit snap while on holiday, confidently showing off her figure following a complete dietary overhaul.

Instead of relying on medications, Susannah claims she accomplished the change by eliminating refined sugar from her meals entirely. Sharing the honest snapshot on Instagram, she clarified that while she had lost weight, she wasn’t pretending to possess a “perfect” physique. She wrote: “This is a weight loss drug free body that weighs 147lbs after five months of no refined sugar. It’s still got shoulder splitting G cups. Still has a muffin top.

“Still has crepey skin and is about as toned as a water bed. Sucking in tummy with all my strength and stretching back and limbs to iron out some of the skin ripples.

“All wrapped up in a great quality, stupidly dear bathing suit… I’ve had for 10 years.”

Sugar addiction

The former What Not To Wear host has previously spoken candidly about her troubled relationship with chocolate, confessing it had started to impact far more than simply her waistline.

Writing in The Sunday Times, she disclosed she had reached a stage where she’d prefer to remain at home with a box set and chocolate rather than spend time socialising with mates. “It got to the point where the choice between going out for dinner or staying home in bed with a box set and a stash of chocolate was no contest,” she said.

“Chocolate was affecting not only my weight and energy but also my social life.”

Susannah, who has previously labelled herself as a “high-functioning” alcoholic before quitting alcohol, said her reliance on chocolate had become a quieter version of that addiction.

She explained: “With alcohol, I sought out people who drank heavily, because it made my own drinking feel normal – safety in numbers. Chocolate had become my quieter equivalent.”

Chocolate cravings

Determined to make a change, she eliminated refined sugar from her diet and instead concentrated on consuming plenty of vegetables, fruit and nuts.

The lifestyle shift paid off, with Susannah revealing she shed a stone in roughly 12 weeks and no longer craves the sweet treats she once consumed daily.

Reflecting on her progress, she wrote: “Three months later, and a stone lighter, I no longer crave Lindt or Nestlé. For someone who, before March 1, had never gone a single day without chocolate, that feels remarkable.

“It is not rocket science, either. Loads of veg, blueberries, apples and nuts.”
