The Traitors is set to break records in tonight’s episode as BBC bosses are revealing a major twist in the new red-cloaked secret traitor reveal
The Traitors is tipped to pull in record-breaking viewing figures tonight. Britain looks set to come to a standstill at 8pm as fans tune in to find out who the secret Traitor is.
Bookies last night slashed odds of ratings hitting 10million viewers. Coral spokesperson John Hill said: “The Traitors continues to attract big numbers and with a fresh twist to this year’s show, we make it odds-on for this series to reach 10million viewers.”
In Saturday night’s episode, regular Traitors Stephen Libby and Rachel Duffy were told they were going to discover the identity of the secret Traitor. As it reached its climax they heard a knock on the door of the turret and geared up to finally find out.
It had left fans convinced the secret Traitor will finally be unmasked when the series continues tonight. Speculation of who it could be has reached fever pitch since the series kicked off last week. Fans have been sharing theories on social media.
Producers have gone all out to make sure the identity of the secret Traitor hasn’t leaked.
During the celebrity series in the autumn the show was thrown into chaos when people involved with the show let slip that Alan Carr won before the final aired.
What do we know so far about the secret traitor?
Presenter Claudia Winkleman disclosed that this year, she’s handpicking a Secret Traitor. This doesn’t just turn the game on its head for contestants battling for the massive cash prize – it’s a monumental shift for viewers tuning in at home too.
Breaking down the transformation, Claudia explained: “I think lots of people who’ve watched, endlessly go, ‘How do they not know? It’s just there’. So I like the idea. It’s like, OK, you have a go. When the bosses told me, I was, like, gasp.”
Each evening, the Secret Traitor will compile a shortlist of players for the other Traitors. They can only assassinate one player from this list.
The identity of the secret traitor is not known to the other traitors – until tonight’s episode.
Who is the secret traitor?
The secret traitor is exactly that – a secret! While there has been no official confirmation as of yet, there have been some clues.
Sharp-eyed viewers of The Traitors reckon they’ve cracked the identity of the mystery betrayer following what appears to be a slip-up on the spin-off show, Uncloaked.
When tuning into show, eagle-eyed fans noticed what many believed was a major blunder by the programme’s producers.
Spotting the photographs displayed on the wall behind the presenters, one X user questioned: “Why are the 3 traitors pictured on the wall…..with Harriet?”
Another chimed in: “Spoiler: The portraits of the traitors are in the background of #traitorsuncloaked…. Plus an additional one. Harriet the secret traitor! #TheTraitorsUK #Traitors”
Whilst it seems unlikely the production team would make such a glaring error, desperate fans have been scrutinising every detail they can.
The secret traitor will officially be revealed tonight (Jan 7).
