    Apr 20, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Wyatt Pike has treated his fans to a new song. More than a week after he was unveiled to have exited “American Idol”, the singer dropped an original track called “Friday Nights” and announced the release on social media.

Making use of Instagram on Monday, April 19, the 20-year-old singing hopeful shared a video of him playing his guitar as he sang the new song. He captioned it, ” ‘Friday Nights’ – Wyatt Pike (Original). As promised, here’s a video of my tune ‘Friday Nights’! I had fun filming this for you yesterday, hope you enjoy! ‘Friday Nights’ is available on all streaming platforms!”

Wyatt has since gained praise from his online devotees. One user raved, “You are very talented I wish you had stayed on idol. I believe you would have won!” Another exclaimed, “So good! Miss you on idol!!!” A third additionally gushed, “So talented your music truly makes an impact.”

Wyatt made it to the top 16 before deciding to leave “American Idol”. His departure was announced by host Ryan Seacrest in the Monday, April 12 episode before announcing the season’s top 12. Ryan said at that time, “Before we get to the results, I have to tell you that finalist Wyatt Pike will not be competing in the competition. He had to drop out, but we wish him the very best.”

Two days later, the Utah native finally broke his silence on his abrupt exit from the singing competition show. He penned on Instagram, “I had to leave the @AmericanIdol competition for personal reasons but am so thankful I get to play music for the rest of my life. Fellow contestants – miss you all, good luck! Thank you to everyone for your support… do stick around for more musical things soon!”

While he did not detail the reason behind his departure, fans assumed that he left the show after having a fight with judge Luke Bryan. Rumor has it that he punched Luke in the face, leaving the country star with a black eye. Hence, the latter was absent from the April 12 episode.

Both Wyatt and Luke have yet to address the rumors. Luke’s wife Caroline, however, was quick to set the record straight on TikTok on Sunday, April 18. “Trust me, he has covid,” she replied to fan speculation, before quipping, “I kinda wish there was a fight. I’m sick of taking care of kids alone and sanitizing. I’m peeing Lysol!!!”

Harry Connick Jr. Returning to 'American Idol' as Musical Guest

    Instagram

The former ‘Idol’ judge is set to return to the singing television competition as a performer along with ex-contestant Lauren Daigle for a faith-themed episode.

    Apr 15, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Former “American Idol” judge Harry Connick Jr. will be returning to the show next week (19Apr21) for a faith-based episode with ex-contestant Lauren Daigle.

He will perform two songs from his new Christian album, “Alone with My Faith”, which he recorded during lockdown, while Daigle will sing her 2019 hit “Look Up Child”.

Connick, Jr., who was a judge on Idol alongside Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban from 2013 to 2016, tells Billboard he cannot wait to get back to the TV talent contest.

“It’s really nice to be back,” he says. “I had such a good time when I was a judge, and before that, a mentor. So any chance I get to see those folks again, I welcome. I have a lot of friends there.”

Daigle adds, “I’m excited to be back with people that I so enjoy. We did rehearsals and the Idol team, like the band, is insane. We had a ball. The band nailed it… It’s also really refreshing how kind they are.”

Daigle auditioned for the show in 2010 and 2012 when she just missed out on making it to the top 10.

“I don’t have any disdain or any negativity toward the show,” she explains. “At the time I was so young and naive and I don’t think I knew who I was yet. So I could have been pulled in so many different directions artistically. I feel like it gave me an opportunity to step back… I’m actually really excited that it worked out this way.”

They aren’t the only former “Idol” favourites returning to the show – original judge Paula Abdul is currently sitting in for Luke Bryan after he tested positive for COVID-19.

Paula Abdul Calls Simon Cowell 'the STD' During 'American Idol' Return

    WENN

The original female ‘Idol’ judge shocks host Ryan Seacrest when she gave the British music mogul an unflattering nickname during a video call with another former judge Randy Jackson.

    Apr 14, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Paula Abdul left American Idol host Ryan Seacrest lost for words on Monday night (12Apr21) when she referred to music mogul Simon Cowell as “the STD.”

The “Straight Up” star returned to the panel of the U.S. TV show to stand in for regular judge Luke Bryan, who had tested positive for Covid-19. As they celebrated Paula’s comeback, Ryan treated her to a video call with Randy Jackson – the third member of the panel when Simon and Paula acted as judges – when she made the comment about her former nemesis.

“It’s so good to see you! We’re all back, now we just need the STD,” Paula quipped, after which followed an awkward silence when Seacrest appeared unsure of what to say.

She quickly realised she’d shocked with the remark and thought of an acronym – “the super, talented… debonair.”

Ryan speedily moved the chat on as he said, “I think Paula is doing an amazing job, next to the amazing Katy and the amazing Lionel.”

While Luke was absent from the programme on Monday night, fellow judge Katy Perry said she thought he would be back the week after as he’s not too under the weather with the virus.

“He’s totally good,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I think he’s gonna be alright. I think we’ll be seeing him next week.”

'American Idol' Hopeful Funke Lagoke Emotionally Addresses Fear of Being Highlighted Over Stage Fall

    ABC

Taking to Instagram Live, the singing contestant opens up about how she wishes her time on the show showcases her voice and skills as a performer instead of her ’embarrassing’ moment.

    Mar 24, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Funke Lagoke struggled to make peace with how she was portrayed on “American Idol”. After the scene of her falling forward onto the stage was aired in the Monday, March 22 episode of the competition series, the singing hopeful got emotional talking about her fear over the embarrassing highlight.

Funke took to Instagram Live to explain how she felt over the coverage. “As a performer, you want to be highlighted in the best way possible,” she said in the video that has since been deleted. “And every time I was reminded that I was going to get showcased for this fall, the line I keep telling myself is, ‘I am so much more than my fall. I am so much more than my fall’.”

She went on saying, as quoted by Good Housekeeping, “I come with so much more, those that know me know that, and I pray that America and whoever saw this saw that even when we fall in life we’re gonna get back up again, and we’re going to fight for another day.”

Funke added that the only thing she wanted to be highlighted was her voice. “That was not how I wanted to be presented the first time … But it’s okay because I know God has something I can’t see right now. I wanted to be highlighted so much for my voice, I did,” she shared. “And they did show something, but I’m so much more than that.”

Aside from her address via Instagram Live, Funke posted a photo of herself oozing off strong aura in a purple outfit and big golden necklace. ” ‘WE ARE ALL SO MUCH MORE THAN OUR FALL’ – Funmike W Lagoke #IamMoreThanMyFall,” so she captioned the Tuesday, March 23 post.

Friends and fans have since commented on Funke’s Instagram post. “Shoutout to my bestfriend @funkelagoke You sound amazing tonight, Never forget #immorethanmyfall,” one comment read. Another screamed out Funke’s hash-tag, “‘WE ARE MORE THAN OUR FALLS!’ @FUNKELAGOKE. ”

Funke Lagoke showered with encouraging comments by fans and friends.

Funke’s mortifying moment unraveled after she and fellow hopeful Ronda Felton delivered a duet performance of “Tell Him”. When Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie began to give their feedback to the duo, the 28-year-old suddenly fainted onstage, prompting the judges and producers to rush to her aid. It was later revealed that she got treated for dehydration in the hospital.

'American Idol': Claudia Conway Eliminated After Struggling in Duet Week

    ABC

The daughter of former president counselor Kellyanne Conway is paired with Hannah Everhart but the two seemingly have some issues to bond as Claudia can’t find her partner to rehearse.

    Mar 23, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“American Idol” returned with the second part of Hollywood Week on Monday, March 22. The episode featured the contestants taking to the stage to perform duets with another hopeful in front the judges, who would decide whether one, both, or neither of the two would go to the next round.

Claudia Conway, the daughter of former president counselor Kellyanne Conway, was paired with Hannah Everhart. “This is not what I was expecting,” Hannah said when she found out that she was put alongside Claudia. “Who did this? Everybody was laughing, but it wasn’t funny. It was not funny. I was scared.”

Claudia apparently shared the same sentiment. “We come from totally different worlds. We’re two different people,” she said.

The pair seemingly had some issues to bond as Claudia couldn’t find her partner to rehearse. “It’s not going too well right now,” she shared. “I don’t know where my partner is. We have to practice and figure this out. Watching all the other pairs working together and collaborating is kind of frustrating me. I’m here to win. I’m here to do the best that I can. I’m here to collaborate with my partner, but there’s no partner to collaborate with.”

In confessional, Hannah shared that she was “kind of hoping they’d pair me with an older person.” She continued, “I do get along with people my age, but it’s hard finding common ground with people my age because I’m an older soul. But this week you have to live in the now, go with the flow. If you think too hard, you’re just going to stress yourself out.” She eventually came around.

During the pair’s rehearsal, judge Katy Perry visited and advised them to not overshadow each other. “Create that space. If [Claudia’s] not coming as big as you are, then back off,” she added.

Meanwhile, Claudia revealed that she’s “really nervous abut not living up to my potential or doing the best I can. We have some work to do but I have faith we can get there.”

It was time for them to perform and the ladies hit the stage to sing Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times”. The judges were not impressed by the performance with Katy thinking that they didn’t give each other space to shine. “Good grown. Really good growth from where I saw you guys yesterday,” Katy said.

“I appreciate you both made a conscious choice to work together. You guys were flowing together and harmonizing and that was great, but you didn’t carve out enough individual time. When we finally got those moments from you, we wanted more. So we’re at a crossroads right now. This is the hardest part of our jobs,” Katy admitted.

“Hannah, you come from a town of about 1,200 or less. Everybody knows you’re here. Don’t let them down. You’re going to the next round,” so she told Hannah. Reffering to Claudia, Katy added, “You’re just coming to life. I can see it in you. You’re taking control of your life. I applaud you for that. Claudia, this is going to be the end of the ‘American Idol’ journey for right now. I hope you learned a lot and come and see us again.”

Claudia wished the best for Hannah, who got emotional over her newfound friendship with the TikTok star. “It’s been wonderful working with you,” Hannah told Claudia. “I really appreciate your support. You’re a really wonderful person. I wish you the best of luck with whatever route you take.” Claudia replied, “I’m going to be cheering for you. I think you can win this thing!”

'American Idol': Claudia Conway Goes to the Next Round, Mom Kellyane Looks Proud

    ABC

A new episode of the singing competition show sees singers choosing one of six genres to perform a song from before going head-to-head with other contestants from the same genre in front of the judges.

    Mar 22, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“American Idol” aired its Hollywood Week on Sunday, March 21. The episode saw singers choosing one of six genres to perform a song from before going head-to-head with other contestants from the same genre in front of the judges, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

“My audition wasn’t my best,” Claudia Conway, the daughter of former president counselor Kellyanne Conway, admitted before the performance. “I was really, really nervous. I had these doubts in my head telling me, you’re not ready, you’re not good enough. In my life, I’m so focused on all the noise and people hating on me and my family online and on social media.”

Claudia then recalled what Katy told her during the audition. “Katy Perry told me, ‘You have to calm the storm that is around you.’ She believed in me. I could not be more grateful for that. Now, I’m just drowning out the noise and telling myself I can do it,” she shared.

She opted to sing a song from the pop genre. Before she hit the stage, host Ryan Seacrest asked Claudia about the importance of joining the show and how it helped her find out who she wants to be. “It’s the most important thing in the world for me,” she shared. “I’ve been trying to establish my own identity for a while. Most people don’t know I’m a singer and it’s very, very important to me.”

Claudia, who traded her blonde hair for dark brown, took the stage to sing “River” by Bishop Briggs. The judges loved her rendition of the song and decided to send her to the next round of Hollywood Week. Her mom looked proud of her as she gave Claudia a standing ovation from her seat.

During her audition in season 14 premiere, the 16-year-old opted to sing Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain” for her audition. However, it fell flat as the judges wanted her to sing another song. She then decided to redeem herself by singing Adele’s “When We Were Young”.

While Katy and fellow judge Lionel said yes to Claudia, her performance wasn’t convincing enough for Luke. The country singer thought the song only confirmed Claudia’s “limited” range. Despite that, she was voted throught the next round.
