    Sep 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – “America’s Got Talent” returned with a new episode on Tuesday, September 8. The new outing brought season 15 semi-finals featuring the performances of 11 acts, including two wildcard acts.
Kicking off the night was Double Dragon as the sisters performed a fun and sassy routine to Lizzo’s “Juice”. Judge Sofia Vergara was totally in love with them, saying that they gave her a “good time” and made her “obsessed” with them. Heidi Klum, meanwhile, likened them to Jennifer Lopez and Shakira at the Super Bowl.

Dance Town Family, the first wildcard act, then performed. Hoping they would impress the judges, they mixed country and rock n’ roll vibes in their semi-final performance. That fortunately worked because Sofia believed that this was their “best performance” yet.

Next up was Spyros Bros, who performed in front of the Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios. Things seemingly didn’t go as planned though they still did their best. Sofia applauded them for taking things to the next level, but it was “too risky.”

The next performer was the second wildcard act, Thomas Day. It was revealed that he withdrew in the quarterfinals because he and and his mother tested positive for COVID-19. For that night’s performance, he belted out Billie Eilish’s “When the Party’s Over”. That earned him a standing ovation from the judges with Howie Mandel telling Thomas that he “shined.”

As for Alan Silva, he hung onto the chains with one foot and lighting the top of his chains on fire. Sofia and Heidi were hugely impressed but Heidi felt that his last performance was better. Singing Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” was Shaquira McGrath and Heidi called her “all-round talent.”

  • 'AGT' Contestant Defends Jokes After He Left Heidi Klum 'Uncomfortable' for Calling Her 'Tramp'

    NBC

Comedian Usama Siddiquee stands by his skit in which he called Heidi ‘a tramp’ after his jokes went viral following a recent episode of the ‘America’s Got Talent’.
    Aug 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Heidi Klum was left “uncomfortable” after being called a “tramp” by comedian Usama Siddiquee during his “America’s Got Talent” audition.
The funnyman joked about travelling in airports as a person of colour called Usama, and then moved on to the “most fun music of all time” – club music. Explaining that a “DJ can say anything he wants in the beat, and as long as he has a beat drop, it makes it all OK,” Siddiquee continued, “Heidi, if I called you a tramp, you’d be like, ‘How dare you,’ right?”
He then said that if he’d called her the same thing to a song beat then she’d reply, “Well, I do get loose on occasion.”

Klum made her discomfort clear as the camera panned to her throughout the audition, and told Siddiquee when it was her turn to rate the performance, “Being called a ‘tramp’ probably was my least uncomfortable part of the whole thing. But that’s just me. Let’s see what America thinks.”
Heidi’s fellow judge Sofia Vergara praised Siddiquee for taking “a very risky theme” for his skit, while another judge, Howie Mandel, tweeted after the episode aired, “I’ll be honest – it’s really really tough for comedy, not sure if he got the response he wanted but I thought he started off fantastic.”

Siddiquee’s joke quickly went viral, and he later told Entertainment Tonight that he stands by his humour, explaining, “All love to Heidi. I mean, she’s a star, she’s worked as a judge. I mean, you know, comedy creates reactions in people, it’s a very powerful kind of art form where you say something and people have visceral reactions to it.”

  • Gabrielle Union Compares 'America's Got Talent' Fallout to 'Public Flogging'

    WENN

The ‘L.A. Finest’ actress says her dramatic departure from the television talent show was ‘so surprising and so heartbreaking and so frustrating and so unnecessary.’
    Aug 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gabrielle Union’s exit from “America’s Got Talent” was one of the hardest things she’s ever dealt with.
The “L.A.’s Finest” star recalled her experience during the “Minding Her Business” panel discussion at the virtual American Black Film Festival, labelling it “so surprising and so heartbreaking and so frustrating and so unnecessary.”
Union, who departed the NBC show after just one series as a judge amid allegations of harassment and discrimination she witnessed and experienced during season 14, explained that it “(felt) like such a public flogging” and led to her “standing in my truth and standing on the side of employee rights and knowing there’s a better way of doing business.”
She added, “But that whole process was really brutal and knowing that I brought my team into that, it just sucked.”
NBC officials launched an investigation into the show after Union claimed there was racism behind the scenes, but had found no wrongdoing by May, 2020.
In June, she filed a harassment complaint against NBC, claiming NBC’s entertainment chief Paul Telegdy – who is currently under investigation by the network – tried to silence her reports of racism.
Union called NBC “a snake pit of racial offences” and later alleged that representatives for the organisation had threatened her agent.
