Lady GaGa Thanks Fans for Propelling Duet Single With Ariana Grande to Top of U.K. Pop Chart

    Instagram

‘Rain on Me’ enters Britain’s Official Charts Company rundown at number one on the same day the ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker releases her highly-anticipated album, ‘Chromatica’.
    May 30, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lady GaGa and Ariana Grande’s duet “Rain on Me” has stormed to the top of the U.K. pop chart.
The “Bad Romance” hitmaker and Ariana’s collaboration enters Britain’s Official Charts Company rundown at number one on the same day GaGa releases her new album, “Chromatica”.
Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, the singer/actress reveals she’s thrilled a song she wrote at an extremely low point is now a huge hit.
“If someone told me the day I wrote ‘Rain on Me’, a day I was crying water like misery, that this song would someday be number one, I never would have believed them,” she explains. “Thank you for celebrating this song. It’s my gift to you, to celebrate yourself. I hope the whole world is dancing.”

“To all my U.K. monsters (her fans), I love you so much from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for making me number one, and I hope you feel number one every time you listen to this song.”
GaGa and Ariana now each have six U.K. number one singles and their new hit becomes the first all-female collaboration to top the chart in six years, following the “7 Rings” hitmaker’s “Bang Bang” collaboration with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, which shot to number one in 2014.
Last week’s number one, DaBaby and Roddy Ricch’s “Rockstar” falls to two, S1mba and DTG’s “Rover” is at three, Doja Cat’s “Say So” slips two places to four, and Powfu’s collaboration with Beabadoobee, “Death Bed”, completes the top five.
In the albums chart, The 1975 win a close battle with YouTuber-turned-rapper KSI to top the rundown with their new record “Notes on a Conditional Form”. KSI’s “Dissimulation” is at two, ahead of Lewis Capaldi’s “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent”.

Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia” and U.S. rapper Gunna’s “Wunna” complete the top five.

Ariana Grande's Boyfriend Helps Create Downpour in New 'Rain On Me' Promo

    Instagram

Dalton Gomez makes a cameo appearance in the hilarious skit wherein the ‘7 Rings’ hitmaker and collaborator Lady GaGa take on the roles of meteorologists for the Weather Channel.
    May 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande’s boyfriend Dalton Gomez proved his commitment to the singer as he made a cameo appearance in her and Lady GaGa’s hilarious new “Rain On Me” promo.
In a skit to promote their new collaboration, GaGa and Ariana take on the roles of meteorologists for the Weather Channel, with the “Poker Face” star standing under an umbrella protecting herself from the downpour as she comments: “It was beautiful just yesterday, but oh wow, how things have changed. Today it is pouring rain, we are soaking wet. While some are complaining of the recent downpour, we would like to celebrate the rain. Live from Beverly Hills is Ariana Grande with more to report.”
“Thanks, GaGa. ‘Rain on me’, tsunami,” Ariana then quips. “Water like misery, but the people are still going.”
“So true, Ariana,” GaGa replies. “The world is up in a massive act of kindness to celebrate the rain the world so desperately needs to quench the thirst of the Earth. Are we thirsty or what?.”
“Oh, we are thirsty indeed,” Ariana jokes, as the camera pans out to reveal Dalton spraying water on her umbrella with a hose. “It’ll be raining all summer but we’ll surely be dancing when it does.”
GaGa’s rain was also manmade, with an assistant wearing a face mask tasked with showering her with water.

It’s not the first time Dalton has made a cameo in one of Ariana’s videos – the real estate agent first appeared in the music video for his girlfriend’s collaboration with Justin Bieber, “Stuck With U”.

Ariana Grande Finds Lady GaGa's Hands-On Approach to Their Collaboration 'Awesome'

    Instagram

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, the ‘Thank You, Next’ hitmaker talks about working together with the ‘Born This Way’ singer on their new single ‘Rain on Me’.
    May 23, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande had a great time working with Lady GaGa on their new single “Rain on Me”, revealing the “Poker Face” singer was hands-on when it came to all aspects of the collaboration.
The “thank u, next” singer had no idea what to expect when she signed on to work with GaGa and now reveals it was one of the most fulfilling collaborations.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music on Friday (May 22), Ariana said, “She does do a really fantastic job riding that line of being like, ‘Hey, it is what it is’, but also, like, ‘I’m going to give you a f**king show, and I’m going to pick every color that’s on the screen – every lighting, every shot, every wig that every dancer is wearing. Every, everything. I’m going to pick, I’m going to help Ari with picking her make-up and her hair…’ ”
“It’s awesome. I really love seeing her have the point of view, and such gentleness at the same time. And respect for another artist at the same time.”
Grande also admitted she loved enjoying pure pop moments with her new pal, “It feels so fun to be a part of something so upbeat and, like, straight pop again, because I do feel like it’s been a minute since I’ve done something that poppy, and that’s funny because I am a pop person, but it’s just, everyone knows that my heart is kind of rooted in the R&B influence music that I make, and that’s where my heart is, but it just felt so good and fun and happy to dip a toe into her world a little bit, and to try this on for size.”
“The video is so GaGa and so fun. I had so much fun. I was like, ‘I’ve never dressed like this in my life. I’m just having the best time.’ ”

Lady GaGa Admits to Challenging Ariana Grande to Sing While Watching Her Dance

    Instagram

Aside from praising her ‘Rain on Me’ collaborator, the ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker reveals that she sent Billie Eilish flowers after the ‘Bad Guy’ singer won big at one awards show.
    May 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lady GaGa put her “Rain on Me” duet partner Ariana Grande on the spot by asking her to sing, while she performed an interpretive dance in front of her.
The “Poker Face” star admits her new pal had no idea what to expect when GaGa asked her to join her in the studio – and she really tested her.
“I think maybe she assumed that it’d be that she came in and I was like, ‘Here, just sing this and thank you so much for your time,'” Gaga tells Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, “but instead I asked her what she needed, how she wanted to do things…
“I said to her, ‘OK, now everything that you care about while you sing, I want you to forget it and just sing. And by the way, while you’re doing that, I’m going to dance in front of you’, because we had this huge big window…
“She was like, ‘Oh my God. Oh my God. I can’t. I can’t. I don’t know. Oh my God. OK, OK’. And then I did it and she sang, and she started to do things with her voice that was different. And it was the joy of two artists going, ‘I see you…’ We create things that make us feel comfortable. We put them all around. I do it all the time. We all do things to make ourselves feel safe.
“I always challenge artists when I work with them. I go, ‘Make it unsafe, make it super f**king unsafe and then do it again’. And it was just awesome to watch her.”
During the interview with Lowe, GaGa also heaped praise on Billie Eilish, revealing she sent her flowers after one awards show where the “Bad Guy” singer piled up the wins.
    [embedded content]
“There was one night where she just swept a whole bunch of awards and I said, ‘Send her some flowers’. I wrote her a note and, for me, it’s healing, because I go, ‘You know what? That hurt me that I didn’t get that, but that’s OK, because I’m going to be that for someone else’. And me being that for anyone is also a gift for me.”

Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber's Chart Success Explained by Billboard Following Feud With 6ix9ine

    WENN/Instagram

Assuring there was no foul play per suggested by the ‘Gooba’ rapper, Billboard executives note that ‘each song has its own ratio breakdown based on its specific activity.’
    May 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Billboard bosses have responded to rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine after he accused Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber of buying their way to the top of the U.S. pop charts.
The duo debuted “Stuck with U” at number one on Monday, May 18 – two spots ahead of the rap star’s “Gooba” – and he made it clear he had a problem with the placements in a video posted online, in which he claimed record label bosses had ensured Ariana and Justin would rocket to the top by purchasing multiple copies of their track.
Ariana, Justin and their manager, Scooter Braun, all responded to Tekashi, insisting fans alone were responsible for getting their record to number one, and now Billboard executives have made it clear there was no foul play.
“‘Stuck with U’ was available to purchase through the week as a digital download, as well as in various physical format/digital download combinations through Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber’s webstores,” a statement reads. “The sales spike is likely referring to sales on Thursday, May 14 – the final day of the tracking week – when signed ‘Stuck with U’ singles were put up for sale in Grande and Bieber’s webstores. A signed single or album is an accepted form of sales available to any artist and has been noted repeatedly within Billboard chart stories when such items have impacted the Hot 100.”
“6ix9ine, meanwhile, released a non-signed CD single/digital download on the last day of the tracking week via his webstore.”
“As noted in this week’s story announcing the results on the latest Hot 100, ‘Stuck with U’ sold 108,000 in the tracking week ending May 14 and Gooba sold 24,000, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.”
The statement continues: “The Hot 100 has a locked-in methodology, updated at least once a year, with each metric divided by a certain number, which results in an average chart ratio, whereby streams are the most heavily weighted factor, followed next by radio airplay and then sales. Each song has its own ratio breakdown based on its specific activity, which contributes to the overall chart average each week.”

“Overall, ‘Stuck with U’ drew 28.1 million U.S. streams, 26.3 million in radio airplay audience and 108,000 sold in the tracking week. ‘Gooba’ had 55.3 million U.S. streams, 172,000 in radio airplay audience and 24,000 sold.”

Scooter Braun Thanks Ariana Grande for Being Humble in the Wake of 6ix9ine Attack

    Instagram

After the ‘Stuck With U’ singer hit back at accusation that she and Justin Bieber manipulated chart result, her manager offers the ‘Gooba’ rapper a lengthy explanation on how the chart works.
    May 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande’s manager, Scooter Braun, has jumped on the singer’s lengthy attack on Billboard Hot 100 chart rival Tekashi 6ix9ine after he suggested she and Justin Bieber didn’t deserve to be number one.
The rapper, who bowed at three on the new countdown with “Gooba”, accused the pop pair of buying their way to the top of the countdown, prompting Grande to issue a long statement shooting down his claims and urging Tekashi to be “humble” and “be grateful you’re even here.”
Her response prompted a comeback from the rap star, who added, “I don’t want you to think that I’m coming at you. I’m not saying you’re not talented, I’m not saying you can’t sing. You’re a beautiful singer, you just don’t understand my pain.”
He had previously told fans in a video that he had learned the same credit card had been used to buy multiple copies of Bieber and Grande’s duet.
And now Braun has joined the feud, offering Tekashi a lesson in how the chart works, “Only domestic streams are counted for a domestic chart. If someone is counting their total they aren’t counting correctly… We never disclose our sales until end of week. That is called strategy and is and always has been our policy… Nielsen (chart compilers) and billboard rules state clearly one credit card can only buy max 4 copies (sic). Anything above that the entire amount gets thrown out. They review that. All must be confirmed. Which it was.”
Scooter confirms there was an investigation surrounding this week’s charts, but adds, “it was into a video that had 6 times the amount of paid bot activity than the normal video. That video was not ours.”
He added, “Ariana thank you for being so humble. Others should do the same.”
Braun also made it clear he is “proud” of Grande and fellow charge Bieber’s latest chart achievement, adding, “honored to stand with you always.”

Justin also responded to 6ix9ine’s claims on social media, adding, “He said 30k was bought with 6 credit cards but that is a lie. The rules are clear one credit card can buy max 4 copies (sic). Anything over that the entire amount gets thrown out (sic).”
“Nielsen (chart compilers) company checks this and found all our sales were legit because our fans are amazing and bought them. Don’t discredit our fan base with false info.”
He also ripped in to the rapper for failing to mention he’s part of the song in his initial attack on Grande, adding: “If you gonna say her name make sure you say mine because it’s our song.”

Ariana Grande Asks 6ix9ine to Humble Himself After He Accused Her of Chart Manipulation

    Instagram

The ‘7 Rings’ hitmaker has topped the Billboard Hot 100 with her Justin Bieber collaboration, ‘Stuck With U’, but the ‘Gooba’ rapper suggests that the two bought their way to the top.
    May 19, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ariana Grande has fired back at rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine after he suggested she and Justin Bieber bought their way to the top of the U.S. charts.
The pop pair’s new track, “Stuck With U”, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on Monday, May 18 – two spots above the rap star, whose “Gooba” bowed at three.
After picking up a copy of the new countdown, Tekashi posted a video from his post-prison home confinement and said, “I want the world to know that Billboard is a lie. You can buy number ones on Billboard.”
He added, “They purchased half of those things with six credit cards. When we asked where was those six credit cards linked to, Billboard said, ‘We can’t disclose that information’ (sic).”

Angry Ariana was quick to dismiss the rapper’s claims as she thanked fans for giving her a third number one debut.
“Anyone who knows me or has followed me for a while knows that numbers aren’t the driving force in anything i do,” she wrote on social media. “i’m grateful to sing. grateful to have people who want to listen. grateful to even be here at all. i didn’t have a number one for the first five years of my career and it didn’t upset me at all because from the bottom of my heart, music is everything to me. my fans are everything to me. i promise i couldn’t ask for another f***ing thing.”
“I would like to address a few things which i don’t usually do (i don’t give my energy to drama or strange accusations normally but this has gone a little too far)… my fans bought the song. JUSTIN’S fans bought the song. OUR fans bought this song (never more than four copies each, AS THE RULES STATE). they are ride or die motherf**kers and i thank god every day that i have them in my life. Not just when they fight for us to win (even when i ask them not to as i did this week) but because they’re some of the greatest people i know.”
And she wasn’t done there, adding, “Sales count for more than streams. u can not discredit this as hard as u try. to anybody that is displeased with their placement on the chart this week or who is spending their time racking their brain thinking of as many ways as they can to discredit hardworking women… i ask u to take a moment to humble yourself. be grateful you’re even here. that people want to listen to u at all. it’s a blessed position to be in (sic).”
She concluded her carefully-worded rant by stating, “Congratulations to all my talented a** peers in the top ten this week. even number 3. And thank u to @billboard for this honor.”

Tekashi responded with a new video on Monday, addressing Ariana directly and saying, “I don’t want you to think that I’m coming at you. I’m not saying you’re not talented, I’m not saying you can’t sing. You’re a beautiful singer, you just don’t understand my pain. My frustration is from Billboard. I speak for the millions of kids that come from nothing, right. Let me show you something…”
He then revealed an old video of himself and shared TV footage of Ariana playing Cat Valentine, before adding that he comes from “a different background,” mentioning his mother “used to collect cans on the street” while he used to “be a dishwasher.”
He captioned the video, “@arianagrande All I’m saying is I worked super hard to make it out of Brooklyn NY (New York),” adding that he grew up on welfare, without a father.

Tekashi concluded his post with, “YOU ARE VERY TALENTED AND BEAUTIFUL GOD BLESS YOU. But you will NEVER UNDERSTAND MY PAIN.”

Artist of the Week: Ariana Grande

The ‘Thank You, Next’ singer gives people a reason to smile with her new single while raising money for good cause and racing to the top spot on Billboard Hot 100.
    May 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Coronavirus pandemic has forced millions of people around the globe to stay at home in a bid to prevent further spread of the killer disease. With remarkable talent and plenty of time in her hands, Ariana Grande managed to keep her creative juices flowing.
Collaborating with Justin Bieber who’s under the same management, the petite singer crafted a love ballad that many people could relate to during the lockdown. Called “Stuck With U”, it’s about a couple who lock themselves indoors to get to know each other better.
The music video is full of laughs and smiles with cameo appearances by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Demi Lovato, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Ariana used the video to introduce her new boyfriend Dalton Gomez while Justin appeared with his wife Hailey Baldwin.
The song is expected to have an uplifting impact amidst the doom and gloom of the global health crisis, but it’s deeper than that. All proceeds from the single are donated to fund scholarships of children of frontline workers whose lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The song received positive response from fans. It climbed high to the fourth spot in the U.K. singles chart, becoming this week’s highest new entry across the pond. Stateside, the song is ranked first in Billboard poll of favorite new music with 75 percent of the vote, leaving its rivals by the likes of Kehlani and Chris Brown in the dust.
Meanwhile, competition is fierce on Billboard Hot 100. Doja Cat’s “Say So” remix featuring Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix featuring Beyonce Knowles, Tekashi 6ix9ine’s new single “Gooba”, and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” are all in a neck-and-neck race to No. 1. Ariana and Justin join the rally and are expected to explode on the chart.
Their charity single is predicted to debut so high that it has already gotten their rival Tekashi69 shaken. He’s so anxious that he accused Billboard of playing favorites and fixing the rankings. According to emails received by the rapper on Thursday, May 14, “Stuck With U” climbed up to No. 5 before jumping to No. 1 after gaining 60,000 units in mere hours.
