    Instagram

The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker urges fans to push aside the Grammy drama and celebrate lesser-known black artists who get nominated at this year’s biggest night in music.

    Mar 15, 2021
AceShowbiz – Cardi B is shining a spotlight on some of the lesser-known 2020 Grammy nominees by publicly congratulating them on social media.
The hip-hop star has taken to Twitter to hail a number of fellow black musicians who received nods ahead of Sunday’s (14Mar21) ceremony, amid The Weeknd’s criticism of the awards show following his controversial snub.
“How I feel bout the Grammies,” Cardi tweeted. “Don’t forget to congratulate the small black artist that got nominated that got overshadowed again cause of the drama .It’s their moment finally (sic)!”
She then shared a lengthy statement expressing her sentiments in full, writing, “I do feel that there were some albums and songs that should have been considered for nominations. Maybe by next year they will get it right.”
“However let’s not forget the Grammys nominated soo many independent Black artists this year that don’t get the exposure by blogs, magazines and other award shows like Chika, D Smoke, Royce 5’9, Freddie Gibbs, Jay Electronica, Kaytranada, Brittany Howard, Mykal Kilgor, Ledisi, Jean & Marcus Baylor, Luke James, Gregory Porter, Giveon, Ant Clemons, Robert Grasper, Free Nationals & Thundercat and so much more (sic).”

“It’s frustrating sometimes to work and work on your craft and you feel overlooked because you might not look like others, are not mixxy (sociable) so you not always around other artists, you rap or sing about different material, you stay out of drama and the media or yet still not as popular,” she continued.
“However you’re talented (as) f**k and one day you wake up and you find out you’re nominated and got a notice from one of the biggest award shows purely cause of your TALENT!”
Cardi concluded her statement by reminding fans to give props to those worthy of the recognition, adding, “Soo besides all the bulls**t let’s not forget to congratulate these artists. This is their moment too and they been working their a** off with no exposure and let’s not overshadow it with feelings cause your favorite might not be on the list (sic).”
Cardi hasn’t been nominated at this year’s Grammy Awards, but the “WAP” hitmaker is set to perform during the ceremony.
The rap star faced some push back from followers accusing her of siding with Recording Academy officials in their dispute with The Weeknd, who slammed the organisation as “corrupt,” but she fought back to defend her position.
“I’m highlighting these underrated artist that got nominated and no one blinked a eye to congratulate them cause everybody throwing tantrums over artist that submit their music to a award show that they claim they hate,” she vented. “AGAIN CONGRATS TO YALL (sic)!”

Cardi B Stuns Jimmy Fallon With Real Meaning Behind 'Up' Lyrics

    NBC

The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker has left the ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ host speechless during TV interview as she explains the real meaning behind her new song lyrics.

    Feb 13, 2021
AceShowbiz – Cardi B left U.S. talk show host Jimmy Fallon lost for words after explaining the unexpected meaning behind a line in her new single “Up”.
The “WAP” hitmaker is known for her raunchy lyrics, but she caught comedian Fallon off-guard on Thursday (11Feb21) as she revealed one part of the song originally referred to an uncomfortable constipation situation.
The line in question, which she had actually borrowed from her husband, Migos rapper Offset, is, “If it’s up, then it’s stuck.”
During “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” interview, Cardi admitted she initially thought it was a “Georgia thing” as Offset, who is from the state, says it “a lot,” but she soon learned fans from other Southern U.S. states are also familiar with the phrase, so she was inspired to use it too.
“Um, so have you ever taken a poop, right, and it don’t come out?” Cardi began to explain as the stunned funnyman looked down at his desk. “It’s just up and it’s stuck. Yeah (sic).”

After an awkward silence, Fallon uttered, “Wow,” while Cardi simply nodded.
“I mean, I guess you can take from it whatever you want. There’s other ways to look at it, I guess,” Fallon reasoned, as Cardi agreed, “It’s a metaphorical quote.”

The release of “Up” which she claimed was inspired by the Chicago Drill music scene was marred by plagiarism accusations.
The femcee was accused of ripping off New Jersey rap duo Mir Fontane and Mir Pesos over similarities between the hooks on her song and theirs.
She, however, vehemently denied the allegations.

Because, I know people are having troubles finding the song on iTunes. I don’t even think the music video is up on iTunes yet.”
“I don’t know who dropped the ball and gave in or didn’t gave in or whatever to iTunes, but I’ve been working. I’ve been calling people on the label all night. I don’t know,” she continued. “Make sure you check it out on all streaming services. I think the song was turned in late to avoid leaks and stuff. ”

Cardi was accused of ripping off New Jersey rap duo Mir Fontane and Mir Pesos over similarities between the hooks on her song and theirs. “@iamcardib we want my money,” the duo wrote on Twitter.

Fontane was quick to respond. He noted that, while their music video premiered in September, they previewed their song a month prior and “recorded it even earlier than that, Respectfully.” He also showed the video where they played a snippet of their song.
Cardi, however, insisted, “Naaa im the type of person that avoids problems & court days. If i get inspired by a song I wouldn’t mind giving a percentage or couple of thousand but I never Hurd if this man.” She added, “I’m glad while I was recording this song in August I was playing wit the hook on this live.”
She also pointed out that she’s not the producer so if someone had issues with a beat, she suggested the person “take it up” with the producer.

Cardi B Locks Lips With Her Female Dancers in New Racy Music Video 'Up'

The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker has released a new raunchy music video in support of her ‘cocky’ single called ‘Up’ which is inspired by the Chicago Drill music.

    Feb 6, 2021
AceShowbiz – Cardi B has hailed her new song, “Up”, as “more cocky” compared to her “very sexual” hit, “WAP”.
The 28-year-old rapper has dropped her first track of 2021 and the eye-popping music video, which is helmed by Tanu Muino, who flew from the Ukraine to shoot the promo. Cardi bids farewell to 2020 with a funeral for the unprecedented year with a gravestone with “RIP 2020” on it and also locks lips and tongues with a group of female dancers in the racy video.

And she’s explained that she didn’t want to repeat herself and recreate another video and song like “WAP”, and insisted the goal was to create “something more gangster” and inspired by the Chicago Drill music scene.
She told Zane Lowe on Apple Music: “I wanted to do something really different. It took me more than a month …we started rehearsing in December for this moment …The grind don’t stop. I thought that my last song was more sexy … I wanted to do something more gangster, more cocky.”
“My last song was very sexual, very sexual. So I always want my next songs to be different than the one before. If a topic on one of my songs is money, the other topic I want it to be about something else. When I started rapping, when I first put music out, like my mixtape, it was all … This might sound crazy, but I got really inspired of Drill Chicago music. I was young, and I liked that and everything, so my mixtape was very all about gangster violence. If it’s up, then it’s stuck. That’s where I wanted to take it with this record.”
“Up” is set to feature on Cardi’s follow-up to her 2018 critically-acclaimed debut studio album, “Invasion of Privacy”.
