  • Demi Lovato Credits 'Cruel Intentions' for Her Queer Awakening

    Instagram

The ‘Confident’ hitmaker discusses the moment she realized she wasn’t straight with ‘Queer Eye’ star Tan France when co-hosting Facebook Watch’s Coming Out 2020 virtual event.
    Oct 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Pop star Demi Lovato first realised she wasn’t straight after becoming aroused watching Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair’s lesbian lip-lock in “Cruel Intentions”.
The “Confident” hitmaker admits she was a little too young to be viewing the racy 1999 teen drama, but it made her really think about her sexual orientation.
Discussing the moment she recognised her feelings with “Queer Eye” star Tan France as they co-hosted Facebook Watch’s Coming Out 2020 virtual event on Friday, October 9, she said, “It was definitely when I was young and should not have been watching Cruel Intentions, but I did. It was that scene where they (Gellar and Blair) made out on the park lawn, and I was just like, ‘Oh, wait a minute, I really like that!’.”

Demi, who first ‘came out’ as bisexual in 2017, also revealed how she had previously written tracks about same-sex romances, but fans just assumed she was singing about male love interests.

“There were times where I wrote songs about girls that my fans thought I wrote about a guy,” she shared, without giving examples of the tunes in question.
“I’m surprised that some of them didn’t figure out that some of the songs were for certain people. I was sharing it with the world, yet I wasn’t being completely obvious with what I was talking about. Music was my safe space.”
The Facebook Watch event was designed to celebrate Sunday’s National Coming Out Day.
It marked Lovato’s first public appearance since breaking off her engagement to actor Max Ehrich.
The former couple began dating in March and became engaged in July, after a whirlwind romance, but split in late September.

  • Demi Lovato Bares Her Heart Out in New Breakup Song Following Max Ehrich Split

    Instagram

The former Disney darling talks about someone stealing all her light in a self-love anthem titled ‘Still Have Me’ as she appears to reflect on her separation from fiance.
    Oct 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato is reflecting on her shock split from ex-fiance Max Ehrich in a new ballad all about self-love.
The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer was reported to have dumped Ehrich last week (ends25Sep20), and the actor, who has been filming a new faith-based movie on location in Georgia, subsequently took to social media to claim he had learned all about their breakup “through a tabloid” as he pleaded with Demi to answer his calls and “forgive” him so they could reconcile.
The pop star has yet to directly address the broken engagement, but on Wednesday (30Sep20), she dropped a new song which appeared to hint at her feelings about the end of the whirlwind romance.
She teased the release of “Still Have Me” in a Twitter post late on Tuesday, writing, “Music is always there for me… song in the am (morning).”
The ballad features the lyrics, “I’m a mess and I’m still broken / But I’m finding my way back / And it feels like someone’s stolen all the light I ever had / It hurts to breathe / I don’t have much, but at least I still have me / And that’s all I need.”

According to TMZ sources, Demi wrote the song a few months ago, but reworked some of the lyrics in the wake of her new single status.
And it appears Demi’s representatives were caught off-guard by the surprise release as they scrambled to make “Still Have Me” available to stream and download on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal.
Reacting to the song post on Instagram, her manager Scooter Braun commented with a red heart icon and added, “Now let’s just get it up on streamers,” alongside a smiley face with sweat emoji.
Lovato and the former “The Young and the Restless” star Ehrich became engaged in July, just four months after they started dating.

  • JoJo and Demi Lovato Feel Connection With Each Other Over 'Lonely Hearts' Lyrics

According to the ‘America’s Most Talented Kids’ alum, she and the former Disney star are connected to the ‘Lonely Hearts’ lyrics because they’ve ‘both been there before.’
    Aug 9, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer JoJo reached out to collaborate with musical heroine Demi Lovato on a remix of one of her songs after the singer praised her latest album.
The “Leave (Get Out)” hitmaker has long admired Lovato and took a chance, texting the star after hearing her discuss how much she liked JoJo’s new album “Good to Know” with Sam Smith after it debuted in May (20).
“She is so supportive and so, so sweet,” JoJo told Entertainment Tonight during a recent virtual sit-down. “Her and Sam Smith were talking about how much they loved my new album… they did like, this joint interview, and they were both talking about it, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that is so sweet!'”
The pair exchanged messages about their latest music, with Lovato revealing that the track “Lonely Hearts” was one of her favourites, and that’s when JoJo seized her opportunity.
“I think she told me that Lonely Hearts was one of her favorites, and I was like, ‘Why don’t you get on it?’ And she was like, ‘OK.’ So really it was like that. And we were able to make it happen,” she smiled.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the duo was forced to record its parts of the remix in separate places, and JoJo was full of praise for Lovato’s work on the track.
“She absolutely destroyed it. She killed it,” JoJo gushed. “It’s just amazing. I’m so excited that she took the song and elevated it.”
“We’ve known each other for such a long time, and I have a lot of respect for her,” she added of the I Love Me singer. “I think we both feel a connection with each other.”
According to the 29 year old, she and Lovato both connected to the song’s relatable lyrics.
“We’ve both been there before… and for me it’s very applicable right now,” JoJo explained. “Just feeling like, you know, I’m good at being alone and I don’t wanna be heartbroken, and if I’m alone, I know I can’t get heartbroken. So that’s what it’s about.”
The remix of “Lonely Hearts” featuring Lovato will be released on 28 August as part of the “Good to Know” deluxe edition.

  • Demi Lovato Grateful to Naya Rivera for Opening Doors for Queer Girls With 'Glee' Character

    Instagram

The ‘Cool for the Summer’ hitmaker says she will ‘forever cherish’ the opportunity to play the late actress’ onscreen girlfriend on the FOX hit television series.
    Jul 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato has remembered her time working with the late Naya Rivera on “Glee” in a heartfelt tribute to the late star.
After her disappearance last Wednesday (08Jul20), authorities finally found a body they believe to be Naya’s during a search of a cove in Lake Piru in Ventura County, California, where the actress had been swimming with her son Josey, four.
Following the confirmation of the sad news on Monday, “Skyscraper” hitmaker Demi – who starred as Dani in the U.S. TV show – took to Twitter to pay tribute to the mum-of-one, admitting she’ll “forever cherish the opportunity to play your girlfriend on Glee.”
“The character you played was groundbreaking for tons of closeted queer girls (like me at the time) and open queer girls, and your ambition and accomplishments were inspiring to Latina women all over the world,” Demi shared. “My heart goes out to your loved ones at this time.”

Following news that Naya was missing last week, the singer took to her Instagram Story on Thursday and posted a photo of a lit candle with the message, “Please pray for @nayarivera to be found safe and sound.”
Several of Naya’s “Glee” co-stars, including Kevin McHale, Jane Lynch, and Amber Riley have shared tributes online, as her friends, family and castmates, including close pal Heather Morris, lined up and they held hands on the shores of the lake on Monday afternoon.
The discovery of the body, which has yet to be formally identified but authorities are confident is Naya’s, coincides with another sad anniversary for the stars of the Fox musical drama – it is also the seventh anniversary of actor Cory Monteith’s death, following his accidental drug overdose in 2013.

  • Demi Lovato Blames Music Industry for Making Her Focus on Looks Instead of Lyrics

    WENN

When talking about finding back her joy for music, the ‘Cool for the Summer’ singer claims that #MeToo movement has helped change the way record bosses operate.
    Jul 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato is happier than ever because her music career no longer revolves around how she looks.
The “Cool for the Summer” singer admits she lost her “joy” for music because of the focus on her body, which led her to some very dark places in the past.
“I want a career that has nothing to do with my body,” Demi told Bustle. “I want it to be about my music and my lyrics and my message… and I want a long-lasting career that I don’t have to change myself for.”
“Music brought me so much joy when I was younger and I lost that joy throughout the hustle and bustle of the music industry. I got miserable. And I don’t ever want it to be like that again.”
“I used to have people watching me the night before a photo shoot to make sure that I didn’t binge or eat and be swollen the next day.”

The pop star insists her success, coupled with women’s rights movements like #MeToo, have helped change the way record bosses operate – and she has benefited from the new culture.
“It’s just a totally different world now,” she added. “I don’t prepare for photo shoots, even. I can eat Subway (sandwiches) for breakfast.”
She has also found happiness with new boyfriend Max Ehrich and admits even the coronavirus lockdown has been good for her, adding, “Before quarantine, it was very difficult for me to cry. I had programmed the thought into my head when I was 16 that I’m only going to cry if people pay me to.”
“I started doing all this work, allowing myself to feel the pains of all the losses that I’ve had or the adversities or traumas that I’ve faced. I think my ability to be vulnerable and be more intimate with people has really heightened.”

Demi Lovato to Clear Up Rumors About Her Overdose in Upcoming Docu-Series

    Instagram

The ‘Skyscraper’ hitmaker is reportedly going to talk about the overdose, that almost took her life back in 2018, for the very first time in the upcoming YouTube series.
    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Demi Lovato will reportedly open up on her 2018 overdose in her forthcoming YouTube series.
The “Confident” hitmaker spent two weeks recovering in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a stay in a rehab facility, after relapsing following six years of sobriety in July 2018.
After managing to get clean and return to her career, the star has now reportedly agreed to detail her experience in the new online series in an effort to quash speculation surrounding the incident.
A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “Demi’s experience in 2018 was horrific and will continue to affect her for years to come, so she hasn’t felt able to speak about it properly yet.”
“But she has written much of her upcoming album about the situation and wants to address exactly what happened to her in the hope she can prevent anyone else suffering a similar experience.”
Adding the star has been “nervous about speaking about what happened because she doesn’t want anything to be misconstrued,” the insider claimed Demi, “Decided her own series would be the best way as she will have the power to control exactly what is spoken about.”
“Much of it has already been done and the plan is for it to be released this summer,” they revealed.
The deal has apparently been overseen by manager Scooter Braun, who was behind Justin Bieber’s YouTube series, Seasons, earlier this year (20), which supported his chart-topping album “Changes”.
WENN has reached out to Demi’s representatives for comment.
