Megan Thee Stallion Says That Carl Crawford Was 'Super Nice' When She First Signed to 1501 Records

    WENN/Adriana M. Barraza

The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ raptress also denies that her move to Roc Nation had nothing to do with the drama, assuring that Jay-Z, the founder of the company, is ‘not worried about them.’
    Mar 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Megan Thee Stallion is currently in the middle of legal battle with her label 1501 Records as she claimed that they tried to block her from releasing music. Detailing the affair, the Hot Girl Summer got candid in a recent interview while she stopped by The Breakfast Club, though she put in a disclaimer that “a lot of things I can’t say because it’s legal. I gotta handle it in court.”
“When I first got signed, it was Carl and T Farris,” she explained. “Everybody was super nice of course. But for whatever reason, me and my mom were super drawn to T Farris. He was really nice, really supportive. I recorded at the studio every day with them. I had shows, I was just coming up. T Farris would be there, Carl would pop up from time to time. I’m pretty sure he’d help with radio.”
“When things started really taking off, it would be me, my mom, and T Farris,” she went on saying. “When we’d be on the road, that’s the team. When things start picking up even more, I got signed with 300. So I really didn’t see nobody from 1501 that much.”
During the interview, Meg also denied that her move to Roc Nation had nothing to do with the drama. “Jay-Z not worried about them,” Meg assured. “You saying names just trying to draw attention to the situation…I feel like people want to bully me. You don’t have to gang up on me. I didn’t do nothing to ya’ll.”
“I was at a point where I was already frustrated,” she says. “When I found out I couldn’t drop any music, I was like I might as well say something now, ya’ll ain’t letting me drop music.”

When Charlamagne Tha God asked her what was the motive of the alleged boycott, Megan revealed that she didn’t even know why 1501 didn’t let her release music despite her being one of the hottest hip-hop stars today. “I really don’t know. What’s the thought process?” she shared.

Megan Thee Stallion's Label Boss Fails to Block Her Album

    Instagram

A judge throws out the emergency motion filed by the 1501 Certified Entertainment chief Carl Crawford to prevent Hot Girl Meg from releasing her new music.
    Mar 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rap newcomer Megan Thee Stallion is still on course to drop new music on Friday, March 6, 2020 after a Texas judge shut down her label bosses’ emergency motion to halt its release.
The “Hot Girl Summer” star has been locked in a legal battle with 1501 Certified Entertainment chiefs over the past week, accusing them of trying to block the launch of any new material because she wants to renegotiate an unfair contract she signed five years ago.
Megan was granted a restraining order against 1501 executives on Monday, giving her the green light to move forward with her planned music release, but label head Carl Crawford filed a request for an emergency hearing on Wednesday, arguing the MC has no right to take them to court.
He insisted the terms of their record deal – the same one Megan, now 25, is seeking to have reworked – are clear in stipulating that any dispute is to be addressed in arbitration.
However, Crawford’s motion to dissolve the temporary protection order was dismissed, according to TMZ, paving the way for Megan to share her latest work, a nine-track project called “Suga”, on Friday.
Meanwhile, Rap-a-Lot Records founder and producer J. Prince, who is in business with 1501 officials, has taken aim at Megan for namechecking him in her lawsuit against Crawford’s company and accusing him of employing bullying and intimidation tactics to get his own way in the entertainment industry.
In a lengthy response posted on Twitter, Prince disputes the “slanderous lies” laid out in the court filing, and claims Megan, who is signed to the management division of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, has allowed their lawyers to “brainwash” her into pursuing the legal action.
He maintains Megan’s record contract, which grants her a “40 per cent profit share,” is a “great deal,” particularly for a rising artist without an album, but insists he is open to renegotiating because he doesn’t want to go to war with Jay-Z, who Prince believes is unaware of the full extent of the dispute.
Jay-Z and his Roc Nation representatives have yet to comment on the remarks.

Megan Thee Stallion's Planned Album Release to Be Blocked by Record Label

    Instagram

Days after the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ hitmaker gained a temporary restraining order against 1501 Certified Entertainment, music mogul Carl Crawford demands an emergency hearing on their legal dispute.
    Mar 5, 2020
AceShowbiz – Megan Thee Stallion is facing a court fight over plans to release new music this week (March 06) as part of an ongoing legal dispute with her label bosses.
The “Hot Girl Summer” star was granted a restraining order against her 1501 Certified Entertainment chiefs on Monday, March 02, after claiming they were trying to stop her from dropping new material because she wants to renegotiate an unfair contract she signed when she was 20.
On Wednesday, March 04, music mogul and former professional baseball player Carl Crawford filed a motion to dissolve the temporary protection order, insisting the rapper, now 25, should never have been allowed to take the issue to court, because any dispute is supposed to be addressed in arbitration, as per the terms of their record deal – the same one Megan is seeking to have reworked.
In the documents, filed in court in Texas and obtained by TMZ, Crawford demands an emergency hearing on the matter, in a bid to block Megan’s hopes of sharing her latest project on Friday.
He argues he is simply exercising his contractual right to control distribution of her music, as the hip-hop beauty is still technically under contract, while he also calls into question the “disappointment of her fans” as a legal basis for Megan’s protective order request.
A decision on the emergency hearing had yet to be made as WENN went to press, but Megan appears to be pressing ahead with the launch of her new tunes regardless – in a post on Instagram, she announced a nine-track project called “Suga” will hit streaming services on Friday.

Megan Thee Stallion's Label Boss Accuses Jay-Z of Trying to Steal Her, Claims She Owes Him $2M

    Instagram/https://www.beyonce.com/

The 1501 CEO Carl Crawford claims he’s being robbed and blames Jay-Z’s management company Roc Nation for pitting him against the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ hitmaker.
    Mar 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Carl Crawford broke his silence on Megan Thee Stallion fiasco. The 1501 label boss denied being greedy and blocking her from releasing new music. “The only thing we ever did was give, give, give. Now, she fell for the oldest trick in the industry: the conquer and divide theme,” he told Billboard.
Carl blamed Jay-Z for causing friction between him and his artist. He said, “Everybody in the industry knows this is what Jay-Z and Roc Nation do: They come in, the find the smallest things wrong with the problem — because there weren’t any problems before she left — and then she says that I didn’t want to negotiate?”
He continued, “Ok, tell everybody your definition of negotiating. Your definition is, ‘OK. I’m going to send Suge Knight’s old lawyers to come in, and it’s a stick-up…’ Of course, I’m like, ‘This isn’t a negotiation. This is a robbery.’ ”
He also accused Jay-Z of trying to steal Megan, “Their real plan was to get you out of my contract so they can sign you to Roc Nation. That’s all they want to do.”
“We gave this girl a 60-40 split. Now go ask the artist about that. She got parts of her masters [the] first time. You think Jay-Z would have gave her part of her masters on her first deal with Roc Nation? F**k no. Then, she’s getting $100,000 a show and she don’t want to pay up. That’s what the issue was about. She signed with Roc Nation in August and decided she didn’t wanna pay me no more.”
While Megan claimed Carl held her album hostage, the label boss accused her of owing him nearly $2 million. “They’re using that as a strong-arm tactic so that I can renegotiate the contract,” he explained. “They’re holding the money, and they haven’t paid me since August. She done over 15 shows. Y’all do the math.”
“She gets $100,000 a show. She owe me, and I haven’t recouped almost $2 million that we spent on her, building her up so that Roc Nation would wanna come [around]. Where was Roc Nation at when we was grinding and riding around on them backstreets? Roc Nation was nowhere to be found.”
While scoffing at her claims about not understanding her contract when she first signed it, he accused her of lying about her age. “She signed two contacts. You signed one with me and 300 [Entertainment]. You mean to tell me, you, your mama and your lawyer didn’t read over that stuff every time? Stop lying. You wasn’t 20, you were 23 years old. You was a grown up. You’re just a liar.”

Megan Thee Stallion Prevents Record Label From Blocking Her New Music

    Instagram

The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ has been granted a temporary restraining order against 1501 Certified Entertainment after filing suit against label boss Carl Crawford and his associates.
    Mar 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Megan Thee Stallion has won a big battle in her legal spat with record label bosses. A judge has ruled she can release new music this week without their interference.
The hip-hop star filed suit against 1501 Certified Entertainment boss Carl Crawford and his associates on Monday (March 02), claiming they were blocking her from releasing new music, because she wants to renegotiate a contract she signed when she was 20.
A district judge in Harris County, Texas has granted the “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker a temporary restraining order preventing label bosses from blocking the music she plans to release on Friday (March 06), according to TMZ.
During an Instagram Live video on Sunday, Megan said, “When I signed, I didn’t really know what was in my contract. I was young… So when I got with Roc Nation, I got management, real management. I got real lawyers, and they were like, ‘Do you know that this is in your contract?’ And I was like, ‘Oh damn, that’s crazy, no I didn’t know.’ ”
The “All Dat” hitmaker didn’t specify which terms she objected to, but explained she wanted to adjust the contract to remove the clauses, which ultimately seemed to sour her relationship with the label.
“As soon as I said I wanna renegotiate my contract, everything went left. It just went all bad,” she added. “So now they’re telling a b***h she can’t drop no music (sic). It’s really just, like, a greedy game.”

Megan made it clear she doesn’t want to leave the label – she just wants a fairer contract.

Megan Thee Stallion Accuses Her Label of Holding Her New Album Hostage

    Instagram

The ‘Hot Girl Summer’ star slams her record label 1501 for not allowing her to put out any new music because they’re mad at her for asking to renegotiate her contract.
    Mar 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Megan Thee Stallion is feuding with her record label 1501. The “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker revealed her conflict with the label as she addressed her new album delay in a new video. She claimed she’s not allowed to put out any new music.
According to her, things went left after she asked to renegotiate her contract. “It’s real crazy because all I did was asking to renegotiate my contract,” she said. “And then it became a big old thing. When I signed, I didn’t really know what was in my contract. I was young, I think I was, like, 20.”
She only discovered issues with her contract after she was signed with Roc Nation and got “real management” and “real lawyers.” She said, “I wasn’t upset [with 1501], because I was thinking, ‘everybody cool, we all family, it’s cool, …let me just ask [them] to renegotiate my contract.’ ”
“So now they telling a b***h that she can’t drop no music. It’s really just a greedy game,” she continued. “I wasn’t trying to leave the label, I wasn’t trying to give nobody money that they feel like they entitled to, I just wanted to renegotiate some s**t. I’m not a greedy person. I’m not a person that likes confrontation…I work with everybody. I’m nice. I’m really family oriented.”
She slammed her label, “You mad because I don’t want to bow down, roll over like a little b***h.”
She then gave advice to new artists, “Please, it might seem good, it might sound good, but you definitely got to read [your contract].” She added, “Read all that s**t. Don’t sign that without no lawyer…and get your own lawyer, with their own opinion.”

1501 hasn’t responded to Megan claims, but the label boss Carl Crawford said back in December that the female rapper didn’t bring him any money. “Meg hasn’t brought me nothing I got my own money,” he wrote on Instagram.
Megan said it’s “a whole lie.” Her assistant agreed, claiming Carl was salty because Megan joined Jay-Z’s management. “She still signed to him [Carl] how he not eating? Everyone eating,” the assistant explained. “I swear ever since the Roc nation management deal Mfs turned shade when the whole time all she did was enhance her career .. what’s wrong with growing??”

    WENN/Derrick Salters/Instar

In his latest track featuring Tory Lanez and Tyga, the ‘Me, Myself and I’ hitmaker and his collaborators are rapping about a friends-with-benefits situation.
    Feb 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – G-Eazy seemingly had Megan Thee Stallion in his mind when he wrote the bars in his latest song “Still Be Friends”. The 30-year-old rapper released the new track on Friday, February 7, just days after he sparked romance rumors with the “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker.
In the song featuring Tory Lanez and Tyga, G-Eazy and his collaborators are rapping about a friends-with-benefits situation, seemingly hinting at his fling with the raptress. “King of the Bay/ Getting dome on my throne,” the “No Limit” emcee spits his lines, “She not my girlfriend/ No, we just friends.”
Tory poses the question, “Can we f**k and still be friends though?” before T-Raww delivers his infectious verse. “Like I’m Adam Sandler/ She call me Big Daddy/ I’m insane in the brain/ What you know ’bout it?” he asks.
The song marks the first new music from G-Eazy since he released his EP “Scary Nights ” in October 2019. He’s now readying a new full album which is expected to arrive later his year.

His new music aside, G-Eazy and Megan sparked a speculation about their relationship status after they were caught on camera getting cozy at a pre-Super Bowl party in Miami over the weekend. The “I Mean It” rapper then fueled the rumors by posting on his account a photo of the “Diamonds” rapper along with a bunch of blue heart emoticons in the caption.
He later posted on Instagram Stories a steamy video of him and the 24-year-old femcee making out. She wrapped her arm around her rumored boyfriend’s neck as he sucked on her face and rubbed her thighs.
Despite their public display of affection, Megan later denied that they’re an item. “Lol alright nowww y’all got all y’all jokes out but I am not f**king G Eazy (sic),” she tweeted earlier this week. A fan then asked why G-Eazy had been “sucking the makeup off” her face, to which she replied, “He like Fenty,” referring to Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line.
