Mick Jagger Forced to Change Lyrics to New Rolling Stones Song Due to Eerie Resemblance to Covid-19

    Instagram

The original darker lyrics to The Rolling Stones’ comeback single called ‘Living in a Ghost Town’ contain eerie references to the global coronavirus pandemic.
    Apr 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Mick Jagger rewrote the lyrics to The Rolling Stones new single because he feared they were too dark in their eerie similarities to the events of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The band debuted “Living in a Ghost Town”, their first original tune since 2012’s “Doom and Gloom”, on Thursday, April 23, 2020, which they first recorded a year ago while working on music for a new album.
Fans have noted the prescience of lyrics that include, “life was so beautiful, then we all got locked down,” as people around the world face lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic. So have the band – and Mick says the original version of the song was even more on the nose, as it contained darker references to disease.
“It was written about being in a place that was all full of life and is now bereft of life,” the 76-year-old tells Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “When I went back to what I’d written originally, it was all full of plague terms and things like that.”
“I never actually used that, but it was all there and Keith (Richards) and I both had the idea that we should release it, but I said I’ve got to rewrite it because some of it was not going to work. Some of it was a bit weird and a bit too dark.”
The “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” hitmaker also updated fans on progress on the new Stones album, which will be their first full studio release of original material since 2005’s “A Bigger Bang”.
He said, “We’ve been recording and we’ve got some really good stuff,” but fans shouldn’t “hold their breath” for a release date as he wanted the new record to be “great” rather than just “good.”

The Rolling Stones Debuts First Song in Seven Years 'Ghost Town'

Mick Jagger and his rocker bandmates have released a comeback single called ‘Living in a Ghost Town’ which marks their rock band’s first original song since 2012.
    Apr 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Rolling Stones have thrilled fans by releasing their first new track in over seven years.
“Living in a Ghost Town” was written during the band’s recent recording sessions and Mick Jagger and his bandmates completed it in lockdown due to the coronavirus.
It’s the group’s first original tune since 2012’s “Doom and Gloom” and “One More Shot”, which both appeared on greatest hits album “GRRR!”.

“The Stones were in the studio recording some new material before the lockdown and there was one song we thought would resonate through the times that we’re living in right now…,” Jagger explains. “I hope you like it.”
Bandmate Keith Richards adds, “So, let’s cut a long story short. We cut this track well over a year ago in L.A. for part of a new album, an ongoing thing, and then s**t hit the fan. Mick and I decided this one really needed to go to work right now and so here you have it. Stay safe!”
The new release comes days after the Stones performed “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” as part of Global Citizen’s “One World: Together at Home” virtual COVID-19 relief concert last weekend.

Rolling Stones Added to Lady GaGa's 'Together at Home' Concert

    Instagram

Mick Jagger and his bandmates are announced to join the upcoming star-studded ‘One World: Together at Home’ concert curated by the ‘Poker Face’ singer for Covid-19 relief efforts.
    Apr 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Rolling Stones will perform during Lady GaGa’s star-studded “One World: Together at Home” livestreamed concert this weekend.
Gaga is curating Saturday’s April 18, 2020 two-hour global TV special, arranged in partnership with officials from Global Citizen and the World Health Organisation, and has already secured remote appearances by Paul McCartney, Elton John, Chris Martin, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, and Jennifer Lopez among many others.
And on Friday, the Stones were added as last minute additions to the bill, announcing their participation on Twitter.
“The Rolling Stones will be joining One World: #TogetherAtHome with @GlblCtzn and @WHO – Tune in tomorrow at 8pm ET, for this special broadcast event to honour healthcare workers on the frontlines of the #COVID19 pandemic,” a tweet from the band reads.
The gig, hosted by comedians Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon, will air simultaneously across the main U.S. TV networks from 8 P.M. EST, and be livestreamed on various digital platforms, as well as the Global Citizen Instagram and Facebook pages.
In the U.K., the BBC will broadcast a highlights show on Sunday – which will feature additional performances by British acts Little Mix, Sir Tom Jones, and Rag’n’Bone Man.
The U.S. event, will also feature the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Michael Buble, Annie Lennox, Common, The Killers, Luis Fonsi, Adam Lambert, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Ke$ha, and Jessie J.
GaGa has already helped to raise over $35 million for coronavirus relief efforts from corporations and donors, meaning fans have been asked to just “celebrate the heroic efforts of community health workers” during the telethon rather than make donations at a time when many are struggling with the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rolling Stones 'Hugely Disappointed' Having to Postpone No Filter Tour

    WENN/Daniel Deme

The Mick Jagger-fronted rock band are putting the health and safety of everyone as top priority while countries fight to stop the global spread of coronavirus pandemic.
    Mar 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – The Rolling Stones have put their No Filter tour of North America on hold as they wait for the global coronavirus pandemic to pass.
All 15 dates on the trek, which was scheduled to begin in San Diego, California in May, have been postponed.
“We’re hugely disappointed to have to postpone the tour,” a band statement reads. “We are sorry to all the fans who were looking forward to it as much as we were, but the health and safety of everyone has to take priority. We will all get through this together – and we’ll see you very soon.”

Since the pandemic began, a number of top acts have been forced to cancel or postpone performances and entire tours. These include Madonna, Queen, Green Day, Slipknot, Elton John, Guns N’ Roses, Alanis Morissette, Bangtan Boys a.k.a. BTS, and the Jonas Brothers.
Meanwhile, officials in several countries have shut down music venues and clubs as health experts suggest limiting public gatherings to 50 or fewer people.
