Alison Hammond admitted she was rejected by a shop floor worker in a mortifying proposal blunder.
At the start of the month, the This Morning host took on another TV gig when she was appointed team captain alongside Josh Widdecombe on Rob Beckett’s new Sky panel show, Smart TV. Each week, the celebrity contestants and their team captains discuss the best TV on the box and answer a series of trivia questions.
And it’s fair to say the raven-haired beauty has shared some embarrassing stories in the short time she’s been co-anchoring the programme. But Saturday night’s show (April 13) may have to top them all when she shared one mortifying dating blunder she suffered while shopping in Boots.

To mark the leap year tradition, the comic asked his female panellists if they had ever popped the question to their previous partners before. He enquired: “Ladies would you ever propose?
“Traditionally, it’s normally the man who proposes to the woman. It’s the hit that most men get that they might get a no.” It was at this point that Alison shared her embarrassing dating mix-up on the show.
She confessed: “I’ve had a horrible no once, it’s so embarrassing.” The star clarified that she had never got down on one knee before but she had been rejected by one shop employee while she was popping in for a bite to eat.
The mum-of-one explained: “I went into Boots right because I was really hungry. I was absolutely starving so I went and got this sandwich and some crisps.
“And I went up to pay for it and the most fittest guy was there. I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is it. This is the one I’m gonna marry’. I just knew it.
“I went, ‘I’ll have that crisps and that sandwich please’ and he was like, ‘Do you want to go for a drink?’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m in! I’m in here.” The star was convinced she had bagged herself a date for that evening, and immediately started thinking of where to go out together.
Alison continued: “So I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to go for a drink with you’. And he went, ‘No, it’s a meal deal, go and get yourself a drink’.”
The audience immediately burst into laughter as the TV presenter hanged her head in shame. It comes after Alison shared a rather cheeky response after watching her co-star’s catfish sex tape online.
Comedian Joel Dommett found himself a victim of a catfish scam back in 2013. The incident saw an explicit video of him released to the world.
Joel, who was in his 20s at the time the clip was made, believed he was having Skype sex with someone named Staci Taylor and was secretly filmed performing a solo sex act in his home. The comic was mortified years later when the video was splashed across the net.
During a recent episode of the Sky panel show, Joel’s pal Rob soon brought up his catfish tape. The Masked singer later revealed how his co-star Alison Hammond had watched him and immediately messaged him about it.
He confessed: “Alison was the only person who messaged me and went, ‘Seen it, you’re amazing!”
