Jane Seymour wanted to inspire women who 'give up' by posing for Playboy at 67

Jane Seymour has revealed she posed for Playboy at the age of 67 because she wanted to inspire “women who kind of give up”.

The Dr Quinn Medicine Woman star made headlines when she posed for the racy mag in 2018.

It was actually the third time she’d been in Playboy – following appearances in 1973 and 1987 – and she said then that she felt sexier than ever.

Jane, 71, has now told the Mirror that she thought doing a Playboy shoot at 67 could help other women.

She said: “I just thought, ‘What? Why would they want a woman in her mid to late sixties to do Playboy?’ I was never going to be naked, but they were going to be celebrating being a woman at my age.

“And I just thought, ‘Well, you know, that might be inspirational to some women who kind of give up’.”

Jane is known for her youthful good looks and recently wowed fans when she stepped out in Sydney for the premiere of her new film Ruby’s Choice, looking incredible in a form-fitting red dress.

Last year, the actress told New Beauty that she thought having good skin was the secret to looking so young.

The star hoped to be an inspiration to other women

She also said she wasn’t feeling any different about hitting 70 as she was a positive person.

“My thinking is, ‘Just be as young as you possibly can be’,” Jane said.

“I don’t have many regrets, but I do wish I could tell that younger version of myself – that young girl who lived in England where it’s cloudy and rainy most of the time – that she shouldn’t bask in the sun with a reflector board and cooking oil during those two weeks of vacation!

“But, I stopped sun-worshipping a long time ago, so I guess I’m lucky there.”

Her diet also plays a part in remaining so youthful, as Jane enjoys green juice from her organic vegetable garden, along with fresh veggies and fruit.

She tries not to eat meat, and only indulges in fish or occasionally chicken on sporadic occasions.

She told The Mirror: “I don’t drink too much, ever. I mean, I don’t have an issue with it. So a glass of wine or two at the end of the day, depending on whether I’ve got to work the next day.”
