Emmerdale viewers are set to learn of a heartbreaking death next week from a beloved classic character, although their passing happens off-screen.
Emmerdale spoilers reveal that Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) seem keen to try and help Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) and Luke Posner (Max Parker) get together.
But it isn’t long before Victoria gets the tragic news that her grandmother Annie Sugden has died.
Marlon is left feeling awful for his friend and colleague.
Could the sad news throw a spanner in the works between her and Luke?
Annie had been living in Spain in recent years, so could Victoria have to fly out there to help with any funeral arrangements?

The death of the classic character, who appeared in more than 1500 episodes between 1972 and 2009, comes just months after actress Sheila Mercier who played her died.
Sheila died aged 100 on December 4 last year, a month before what would have been her 101st birthday.
She was best known as playing Annie Sugden from the first episode of Emmerdale in 1972 until she left in 1996.

Sheila returned to the soap in 2009 after 13 years away for a guest stint for her on-screen son Jack Sugden’s funeral.
Jack had been staying with her in Spain when he had a heart attack, and she returned to the UK with his body for his funeral.
Since then, Annie has been mentioned a number of times as various characters have gone to visit her.
Last year, Victoria and Robert went to visit Annie to try and cheer Victoria up after she was raped.
Over the years, Annie was involved in a number of major storylines and had plenty of disastrous accidents.
All of her children died before she did too, though she was still in regular contact with daughter-in-law Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen).
Emmerdale currently airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV
