TikTok user shares clip 'showing John Lewis Xmas advert 2020 filming location'

A TikTok user has ramped up excitement for this year’s John LewisChristmas advert after posting a clip which she claims shows its filming location.

The high-street shop’s advert, which normally begins airing on TV in November, is a Christmas staple for Brits and the filming location is always a closely-guarded secret by the retailer.

But a Tik Tok user, has got her fellow social networkers in the Christmas spirit, by sharing a clip she claims is the filming location.

The clip shows a grass area on a roundabout in a residential area in Orpington, Greater London, which is covered in fake snow and has a large Harry Potter-esque tree in the middle.

The video, which also shows snowmen and a huge floodlight attached to crane, is accompanied with Mariah Carey’s hit festive song All I Want for Christmas Is You.

Captioning the post, which was shared on Thursday, the TikTok user said: “John Lewis advert being filmed up my road.”

Orpington residents have also claimed that the festive advert was filmed on a street in the area.

A local resident told Daily Star Online he saw crew filming a little boy and girl trying to get a football down from a tree.

He said: “It was really impressive, they made the area look like Christmas time.

“They covered the big tree in snow to make it look like Christmas. The little girl and the little boy were looking up at the tree and throwing an umbrella to get it down.

“They put Christmas decorations on all the house, they put fairy lights and wreaths on them.

“I was really impressed, it was something different to see in the area.”

Many people took to the Orpington Gossip Facebook group to confirm filming had taken place in the area after somebody asked why a camera crew were spotted in the location.

Remarking on a picture shared of the festive scene on October 15, one user said: “John Lewis advert can confirm.”

“John Lewis advert filming for chrimbo advert,” another wrote.

A third added: “It’s for a john lewis advert.”

At the start of the magical clip a man can been seen shaking artificial snow onto the ground near the tree, as people, who appear to be production crew, stand in a tent next to the scene.

The social media user’s camera then pans around to show snow covering the surrounding road and railings around the roundabout.

The TikTok user’s post sent fellow social networkers into a frenzy with many sharing how they couldn’t wait to see this year’s advert.

One wrote: “Yay. Didn’t think they were doing one this year.”

Another said: “Y’ALL I’m getting too excited.”

“Ya ya ya, I’m so excited,” a third added.

John Lewis would not confirm the filming location of the ad to Daily Star Online.

A spokesman said: “We are lucky enough to enjoy lots of speculation around our TV ads but we never comment because we want to keep the surprise.”

The high-street shop’s advert has become a staple of the Christmas calendar with its heartwarming festive message spreading cheer across the nation.

Last year’s John Lewis advert star was Excitable Edgar – the hapless dragon seen being shunned by villagers after accidentally burning down their decorations, before being redeemed with a job lighting up a Christmas pudding.

John Lewis bosses have reportedly set their sights on featuring Colonel Tom Moore in their famous Christmas advert this year, according to the Sun.

The war veteran, 100, has become an inspiration for the nation after raising a whopping £33 million in support of the NHS.

The company that is tasked with creating the famous festive advert has reportedly thrown about ideas regarding how they could feature the incredible veteran.

John Lewis said they were not commenting when asked if this year’s advert would in some way reflect the testing times the world has faced this year due to the pandemic.

One Twitter user praised the thread for : “Well I’m crying….with laughter. Tweets like this remind me that even in these depressing times there is still lots to love about being British. Our unremitting disdain for vomit-inducing sentimentality for one!”

Should Colonel Tom Moore find time in his busy schedule to squeeze in a John Lewis advert, the veteran would join the likes of Elton John who has starred in a previous advert.

Other famous contributors to the John Lewis advert include Lily Allen, Ellie Goulding and Tom Odell – who have all recorded tracks for the magical advert.
