Countryfile’s Julia Bradbury went on final run to 'feel boobs bounce' before mastectomy

Countryfile’s Julia Bradbury wept after going on one last jog to feel her breasts “bouncing” before going under the knife for a mastectomy.

Since doctors told the Irish star she had cancer last month, she’s been trying to keep her chin up with support from older sister Gina.

It hasn’t been easy, but the siblings have now spoken about Julia’s fight against cancer in a new interview.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, 60-year-old Gina explained: “Julia’s not really a runner but last week she came in, hugged me and burst out crying. She said ‘I’ve just been for a run.’

“I said, ‘But you don’t like running?’ She said ‘No, I know, but I wanted to feel both my boobs bouncing for the last time.'”

Gina confessed that moment had a huge impact and the siblings both broke down in tears there and then.

Julia still doesn’t know if her cancer has spread since the surgery, but she said she hoped she’d be able to go about life as usual.

The TV presenter revealed her big sis had really been there through the trials and tribulations of her tragic battle.

Julia waved goodbye to her left breast in a topless Instagram post earlier this month, writing: “I’m going for my last walk in this body. I’m going for my last walk with these boobs.

“One of the best bits of advice I’ve received in the weeks of my breast cancer diagnosis (thank you) … is to say goodbye to my breast and to thank my body for all the sustenance, joy and life it has given me.

“Goodbye left boob. I’ve breastfed my children with you, I’ve jumped into the sea with you, I’ve walked thousands of miles with you. And you’ve given me (and some others) pleasure along the way. Now it’s time to make way for something new.”

Surgeons removed Julia’s breast – and along with it a six centimetre tumour – and now all the mum-of-three can do is hope she’s caught it in time.

She said: “Right now I’m simply focused on having surgery because I don’t know how I am going to be, if I will have more cancer to deal with, how I will cope with recovery, how life will feel afterwards.”
