Dancing On Ice's Matt Richardson axed as fans rage over 'unfair' elimination

Matt Richardson was the next famous face to leave Dancing On Ice as he was eliminated by the judges at the end of tonight’s show.

The 29-year-old comedian was given the boot after being in the skate-off against Colin Jackson.

Fans thought it was unfair Matt was eliminated as he only recently joined the show after Rufus Hound and Billie Faiers were forced to quit.

Rufus Hound left after testing positive for coronavirus and Billie Faiers left after suffering a concussion during DOI rehearsals.

This meant Matt was recruited last minute and had just two weeks to prepare for his first dance.

After he was eliminated, the star said he was “relieved” as the show was the most “horrifying and fear-inducing” thing he’d ever done.

Viewers thought it was unfair that Matt was kicked out of the competition after his first week performing on the ice.

One tweeted: “Matt should of had an automatic pass into next week”.

While another wrote: “I’m so sad poor Matt’s only had one week on #DancingOnIce I kinda think they should have had a week with no elimination now Billie has gone.”

A third viewer penned: “I feel so bad for Matt. It was never going to end well but I was hoping for more than just one week.”

“Sorry but that was just cruel to let him have his first and last skate on the same evening. Someone else should’ve left (and it shouldn’t have been Colin either.),” remarked a fourth.

“Little unfair on Matt being in the skate-off, when he has just stepped in as a replacement on his first week, and the others have had more performances…” added another.

Fans were sad to see Matt go but thrilled to see Colin make it through to next week.

Last week’s episode of Dancing On Ice saw the celebrities take part in Musical Week and the show ended with Graham Bell behind eliminated.

Graham, 55, looked gutted as he realised he would be making his departure after going up against Rebekah Vardy in the skate-off.

Dancing On Ice airs Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
