Love Island fans fear new boy Danny is in villa for money after Instagram gaffe

Love Island’s latest arrival Danny Bibby has not made the best first impression on some fans, with some believing he’s only in it for the money after they spotted a suspicious-looking Instagram comment.

The hunky 25-year-old plumber from Wigan rocked up to the villa as a bombshell in Thursday night’s episode and chose to whisk Kaz Kamwi off on a date which will air in Friday night’s episode.

However, despite barely setting foot in the villa, the tradesman has already left fans scratching their heads and doubting that he’s really on the show to find true love, the core aim of the show.

Handsome Danny has now had to hand over his phone just like the rest of the Islanders before they sport their swimwear in front of the cameras, leaving his social media accounts in someone else’s hands, such as a family member or friend.

Love Island fans don’t miss a beat though, and some clever followers were able to spot a huge blunder on Instagram which has led some to believe that Danny’s only there to bag himself a cash prize or perhaps a brand deal.

It comes after Danny’s Instagram account was sharing comments from people he knows, and fans spotted one post in particular which read: “Come on lad, bring that money home.”

The curious comment was written alongside Danny’s promo snap for the show, and interestingly it was quickly removed from his Instagram page after fans noticed the message.

Unsurprisingly, fans were too quick to let the message slide and one even took to Twitter to share a screenshot of the moment.

The uneasy fan believed Danny is ready to play games and penned: “Bring that money home? Yeah no Kaz better be smart about this.”

Danny is about to make his full villa debut tonight, and Kaz looked to be over the moon to be going on a date with the mysterious newbie.

This is not the first controversy to affect Danny though as some fans have called for the new boy to be removed from the show after he was caught using the N-word on social media.

After Danny’s unearthed racial slur came to light his father Richard Bibby has defended his son, claiming he doesn’t have a “racist bone in his body”.

Richard said: “Danny does not have a racist bone in his body and there were no racist intentions to this post.

“Although it was not done maliciously, it was a mistake. I absolutely apologise on his behalf for the offence this wording may have caused. That would never have been his intention.”

Eagle-eyed fans were flicking through Danny’s Instagram page when they came across a 2019 snap of him wearing a leaf-patterned shirt while on holiday.

A friend commented: “Champ,” with a fist-bump emoji, and Danny had replied: “My n****.”

The people running Danny’s social media were warned about the comment and it was swiftly deleted from the profile.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
