Piers Morgan 'in talks' with his old BGT boss Simon Cowell about new TV project

Piers Morgan could have been given extra gumption to walk away from Good Morning Britain after a meeting with Simon Cowell had taken place one week prior.

Recent reports have suggested that the X Factor creator and the former TV presenter, 55, had engaged in a lengthy walk to discuss the “possibility of working together” again.

It isn’t the first time that Simon and Piers have worked side-by-side, with the pair previously rubbing shoulders on the panel of Britain’s Got Talent when the show first took off in 2007.

In 2010 the talent scouting programme had a mass shake-up meaning that Piers was no longer part of the line up.

An informer revealed to The Sun: “During their three-hour walk, Piers and Simon discussed the possibility of working together, and the hope is that Piers will come on board.

“The format needs shaking up, and obviously Piers has form with this.”

It appears that Piers has become hot property within the last 48 hours and now has masses of job offers on the table.

An insider reported to the Mirror that there had been an almighty barrage of “new deals” that came in overnight.

The source said: “Overnight he was flooded with offers and suggestions for new deals — some pretty interesting ones, plus a few wild and wacky offers which he had a laugh about.”

They continued: “Piers won’t be making any major announcements just yet though.”

Piers Morgan became a real talking point after he’d made his point entirely clear that he didn’t believe anything that Meghan Markle had said in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Ofcom later received over 40,000 complaints about defiant Piers, due to the fact Meghan had touched on some incredibly serious subjects including race and mental health while she was still a working member of the Royal Family.

Following an on-air showdown with weather man Alex Beresford it was later announced on Tuesday evening that Piers had quit the show.

The ITV statement read: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Despite the loss of his job, Piers’ views remained the same, he penned: “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview.

“I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on.

“Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”
