I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! veteran Vernon Kay has warned this year’s batch of hopeful contestants to expect the worst.
Vernon, 47, made it all the way to the final in last year’s run of the hit endurance show, finishing in third place behind fellow DJ Jordan North and Queen of the jungle Giovanna Fletcher.
Now the hunky former model has issued a stark warning to the next bunch of celebrities hoping to wear the coveted crown this year.
Vernon believes last year’s campmates got off lightly when it came to the challenges they faced but this year will tell a different story thanks to fewer Covid-19 restrictions being in place.
While the programme has ditched Australia to head to Gwrych Castle in North Wales for a second year due to travel restrictions, remaining in the UK does mean there will be far fewer safety measures to contend with.
So dad of two Vernon is hoping for a more “vicious” format for the show as they get out and about and down and dirty far more than the 2020 offering.
He said: “I’ve heard that it’s going to be more vicious, it’s going to be on a bigger scale. And they’re going to be doing lots more activities.
“I’ve heard this year’s trials are going to be out and about – more of the countryside.”
With last year’s offering sandwiched between two winter lockdowns for the UK, producers are hoping this year things will be very different and they will have the freedom to be more creative.
Vernon also thinks while he and his campmates all got on pretty well, things might be different this time around as the mood of the country reflects in their on-screen behaviour.
He continued: “We all got on – everybody says the tone was perfect. I think that’s a reflection of where we were as a nation, and I think this one will be a reflection of where we are this time.
“We’re back, and it’s going to be more gross and more aggressive.”
