BGT's Alesha Dixon calls for Jeremy Clarkson to be 'muzzled' after Meghan Markle rant

Jeremy Clarkson has been slammed by Alesha Dixon for his comments about Meghan Markle – yet another in a long line of famous faces that have hit back at the former Top Gear presenter.

Alesha appeared on This Morning with Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle when the topic turned to the former Suits actress.

Before she headed off, she made one seething closing statement: “….and Jeremy Clarkson needs to be muzzled. That’s my sign-off for the day.”

Josie was clearly tickled by her outburst while Craig attempted to move the conversation onwards.

Dixon’s comment comes after the former Top Gear presenter recently wrote an article for The Sun, in which he made shocking statements about former royal Meghan Markle.

The now-deleted column, which was written by the 62-year-old presenter, has received public outcry and has led to many famous figures sharing their thoughts.

His column read: “I hate her on a cellular level. At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.”

Jeremy’s column received over 12,000 IPSO complaints and he has since tweeted an apology.

Clarkson’s comments have shocked the nation

He claimed to have “put his foot in it” as he “made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones” which has “gone down badly with a great many people”.

The presenter admitted he was “horrified to have caused so much hurt” and promised to “be more careful in future”.

A statement was posted on The Sun’s website and read: “In light of Jeremy Clarkson’s tweet he has asked us to take last week’s column down.”

Meghan and Harry’s new series has been a recent talking point

Clarkson’s obscenities were made in response to Netflix’s new documentary Harry & Meghan.

The couple, who now live in America with their children Archie and Lilibet, made the docuseries to highlight their struggles and the hardships Meghan faced as she became part of the British royal family.

Harry’s book, titled Spare, is set to be released in 2023 and will cover his life and experience as part of the royal family, but many are apprehensive about what will be included.
