David Walliams has admitted that he doesn’t know the date of Simon Cowell’s wedding to Lauren Silverman next month – as he still hasn’t received an invitation.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 50, isn’t letting that stop him dreaming up plans for a wild drag-themed stag do for Simon, 62, though.
David told The Sun: “I would organise it but I don’t think he will really want me to. I don’t think our tastes would align on a stag night.
“I would do something like a drag stag, where I say all guys have to go in drag, and I don’t think that is what Simon would actually like.”
Despite David’s enthusiasm, he also admitted he was in the dark about the main event, explaining he “genuinely” didn’t know when it was as he’s yet to receive a formal invite.
He added: “I genuinely don’t know the date of the wedding. I certainly haven’t received an invite and I think people have read that as I’m not invited, but I don’t think anyone is yet.
“I think only they know when and where it is going to be.”
David added: “I don’t think it would be in Simon’s style to do a small wedding, as his 50th was a big do and I think if I was Lauren I would want to have a big dress and glitzy, exciting party.
“I’d be surprised if they just ran away to Gretna Green with two other people.”
David’s thoughts follow January’s surprise announcement from Simon that over Christmas he had proposed to long-term girlfriend Lauren Silverman, mother to his eight-year-old son Eric.
Weeks later the 44-year-old US socialite was by his side, wearing a £250,000 diamond engagement ring, at The London Palladium.
Lauren was introduced to Simon by her then-husband, Andrew Silverman, in Barbados in 2006, and following the initial meeting, the married couple often holidayed together with Simon.
Real estate mogul Andrew filed for divorce from Lauren when her pregnancy with Simon’s child was revealed – Simon was mentioned in the divorce papers, which were submitted on the grounds of adultery.
Next week sees the return of the live Britain’s Got Talent finals, after a two year break due to the pandemic.
Britain’s Got Talent continues tonight (Saturday 28th May) at 8pm on ITV
