Legendary pop singer Cher responded to Twitter claims that pop singer Dua Lipa is the “Cher of this generation”.
A fan dropped the tweet that caught Cher’s attention, writing: “Dua Lipa, the Cher of our generation,” with a clip of Dua that showed the resemblance between the singers.
The clip showed Dua Lipa at the 2021 Grammy’s wearing a revealing butterfly motif Versace gown. Beauty and fashion publications likened her outfit to that Cher’s at the same event in 1974.

Cher’s outfit from the 70s included a butterfly headpiece and a jaw-dropping halter neck white bikini with a butterfly pinned to the middle of her cleavage.
After being tagged in the tweet, Cher surprisingly responded.
“How many yrs are in a generation?” she wrote followed by a thinking emoji.
Cher’s cheeky comment was followed up by thousands of divided fans sharing their thoughts on her response.
One wrote in support of Cher’s quip: “You’re the only Cher of all generations, they can be beautiful and talented but no one compares, it’s like comparing candles and a Supernova, You win.”
“Don’t be comparing Dua to candles,” another wrote in defence of Dua, who is nearly half a century younger than Cher, who turned 76 in May.
Another user provided an answer to Cher’s question, writing that there are 30 years in a generation.
The tweets come one week after Dua celebrated her 27th birthday whilst on a glamourous trip in Ibiza.
The ‘Turn Back Time’ singer joined the star-studded guestlist for the wedding of French fashion designer Simon Porte Jacquemus his longtime love Marco Maestri.
Cher and Dua share similarities in appearance and fashion sense, as both have worked closely with Versace.
This Summer, Cher revealed she’d worked on a collaboration with Versace, a fashion line called Chersace.
Meanwhile, Dua was declared the face of Versace just one year prior to the news of Cher’s fashion line.
