Model Christine McGuinness has shared her thoughts regarding her appearance on ITV’s The Games and said she is “dreading” taking part in the live shows.
The mother-of-three is getting ready to star in the highly anticipated sports programme on Monday night (May 9) which will see twelve celebs battle it out in sporting events across the week.
However while talking exclusively to Daily Star at a recent round table event, Christine, 34, said she experienced meltdowns and had a “mental block” when taking part in one of the sporting challenges.
Talking candidly she said: “The training is the part of it I loved. I’m dreading the actual show, if we just carry on like we are I’d be good.”
When asked whether she had any emotional setbacks, Christine also admitted that she did due to her fear of diving.
Christine expressed: “I had my biggest meltdown today at diving.
It’s just mental block, I can’t do it, I’m not there with it. I don’t want to dive.
“Whereas even the ones I know I’m not good at, like running, it’s just not my thing but at least I can handle it. Diving is scaring I’m petrified at it.
“I don’t know right now if I’m going to dive.”
She also added: “Physically I feel fine. But I do get quite emotional sometimes and it all gets a bit too much, so I’ve struggled with that.
“I don’t really feel tired at the end of the day, I’m active anyway. It’s just emotionally I’m drained. More so as it’s getting nearer and nearer thinking about it being on telly and so many people watching.
However the star did mention that her husband Paddy McGuinness is in full support of her taking part in the show.
She also shared she wanted to ensure she did her three children, Penelope, Leo and Felicity proud.
The reality star said: “I keep thinking about them every time I’m struggling with something, because I don’t want them to ever feel held back by anything, I want them to go for it.
“I was always scared to do anything, even leave the house at one point, I was petrified to do that and I don’t want that to rub off on the kids so I hope when it comes to it they show loads of positive bits like ‘yeah come on I can do it’ and not when I’m melting down saying ‘I can’t do it,'” she explained.
The Games will air tonight at 9pm on ITV
